ROUND UP
Why we need creativity at the heart of the curriculum
A
round 10 per cent of teachers are leaving the profession each year. Edge are calling for ‘mutiny’ in the classroom; more freedom for teachers and
the autonomy to deliver engaging learning, interactive pedagogies and give students the opportunity to develop the creative and technical skills they need for the 21st century workplace and beyond.
There is a
growing consensus amongst teachers, education professionals and businesses, that the EBacc is not only driving creative and technical subjects off the curriculum, but reinforcing inequality of opportunity for young people.
That’s why this year’s Edge Annual Lecture Event is being held in
partnership with the V&A Museum of Childhood. The theme is ‘the importance of creativity in the school curriculum’ and we’re taking our cue from the Museum’s newest exhibition, A Pirate’s Life for Me. To find out why we need creativity at the heart of the curriculum, join us at the V&A Museum of Childhood on the 30th October 2018.
