Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today, and I hope you’ve all got your feet firmly back under your desks after the shock of September’s return to school. This month, we take a closer look at CPD and school improvement with two Feature Focus pieces examining these rich topics. In the first, we hear from Louise Doyle, director at quality assurance specialists Mesma, who argues for a more coherent approach to school improvement, and offers some pointers on how to produce an effective plan which satisfies the needs of all stakeholders. We then follow up with a piece from The Teacher Development Trust, examining the role CPD plays in improving practice and staff retention. Also in this month’s issue, we have to
