The Detective Project laulaunches pioneering gangs
ctive Projject gan workshop
nches pioneerin gs worksho
A unique workshop that explores gangs and criminal exploitation of young people has been launched by The Detective Project, a Bristol based company. The Detective Project team are skilled professionals who bring their years of experience together to run authentic, enjoyable and challenging workshops based around a hands-on crime scene investigation.
The gangs workshops offer an opportunity to deal with a difficult topic in a different and interesting way led by experienced practitioners in a relaxed setting.
The workshop was created and written by Louise Giles and LlorienWalsh of The Detective Pr oject South Essex in conjunction with experts in the field. Llorien and Louise have over 28 years’ experience between them of investigating serious crime. They worked together as Scotland Yard Detectives in London and realised they shared a passion for encouraging children and young people to develop an interest in forensics and crime investigation. This workshop promotes discussion on topics relevant to the social and development programmes in schools by providing a vehicle for pupils to discuss themes such as drug dealing, county lines, internet safety, bullying, sexual exploitation and gang culture.
The participants will work together as a team to evaluate evidence, learn about forensic techniques as well as the criminal justice system and understand more about the way gangs recruit and help them to identify types of criminal exploita tion .

TV presenter Ade Adepitan has teamed up with BBC Ten Pieces to help increase access to classical music for young persons with disabilities across the UK.
Released as part of International Day of People with Disabilities, BBC Ten Pieces unveils a series of bespoke new films, in partnership with the BBC Philharmonic and DrakeMusic Scotland, designed specifically for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities settings and schools as never before. This new activity comes as part of ‘Ten Pieces Trailblazers’, this year’s offering from BBC Ten Pieces which is showcasing composers and works that have redefined classical and orchestral music. Ten Pieces Trailblazers tells new stories and opens musical worlds, featuring composers and pieces that broke new ground and left an imprint on the musical world. The pieces convey that there is no one type of ‘classical music’ and no one ‘orchestral’ sound. This new activity now spotlights those trailblazing young musicians and organisations across the UK who are leading the way in SEND classical music education.
Supported by BBC Teach and BBCMusic, the scheme gives schools across the UK access to an unparalleled bank of digita l resources, which help s teachers navigate lessons inspired by the chosen
pieces.Working with a wide network of cultural partners, participants are encouraged to exploit UK-wide events including the popular coaching scheme led by the BBC’s Orchestras and Choirs.
