Häfele kitchens designed for busy lives A
s the centre of the home and arguably the busiest space within it,
the kitchen should be easy to move around and simple to use. But in recent research, homeowners’ biggest issues with their kitchens linked back to storage, clutter and accessibility, proving designs aren’t catering for the busy lives we lead. More than a quarter of respondents in the
research by Häfele UK said they don’t have enough storage in their kitchen; almost one in five said their worktops are cluttered, and 13 per cent said they struggle to reach things in corner cabinets. When asked what they’d prioritise in their next kitchen, 31 per cent said they’d include more
storage, while a quarter would focus on smarter storage to make better use of awkward spaces. Almost half (46%) said the most important thing to them is to minimise clutter. For those considering kitchen projects in the
next year, there are three solutions which help to overcome these challenges.
Swing out larders As part of the research, a third of respondents said they have wire-based storage – such as wire drawers or baskets – and of them, six out of 10 find it useful. The Tal Gate Pro from Vauth Sagel is a swing out larder system which makes finding ingredients easy. The mechanism brings the entire larder system out of the cabinet, so all content is on display and accessible, and includes a back-of- the-door shelving system for additional storage.
Efficient appliances Standalone slow cookers and air fryers are some of the most popular cooking devices bought by homeowners in the last 12 months. However, of those who’ve bought them, almost half (48%) agree they take up too much space and more than one in 10 said they struggle to store them. Furthermore, 49 per cent said they’d prefer to purchase a built-in appliance over a standalone one – like the Smeg Omnichef which combines traditional, microwave and steam cooking to
produce high quality food in 70 per cent less time than a typical oven. You can even cook a whole roast chicken in just 30 minutes.
Creative corner storage Around half of homeowners currently have corner storage, but of them, a third don’t find it useful, suggesting they need a new, high quality solution to get the most from it. The Cornerstone Maxx from Vauth Sagel has been designed to turn awkward corner storage into a much better asset, with large shelving which fully extends from the cabinet allowing for extra convenience, making it quicker and easier to find what you need. It’s also easy to install and can be retro-fitted to existing corner cabinet units.
