Interview with Tony McKenzie, Kinedo Installer
Kinedo shower cubicles remain a niche product in the UK shower market, but one man in the south of England is on a mission to showcase the benefits of the product to more customers after successfully installing dozens of units a year. Tony McKenzie, a former shop fitter and high-end joiner, became a bathroom and kitchen fitter over 10 years ago. Based in Watford he works throughout Hertfordshire and the South East and is a registered Kinedo installer:
Q: Tony, you have been an installer of Kinedo products for more than a decade now,
how did you first find out about Kinedo?
A: I first saw the Kinedo products in Harrow on a roadshow van that Kinedo had parked up
outside a Builders Merchants for the day. I got talking to the technicians who were doing demonstrations and thought the units sounded interesting; in fact, I was very impressed by the quality and the method of installation.
Q: So, after that day, how did you end up becoming one of the official installers?
A: I actually signed up for the installer training programme that the company was offering
and I have since been back and completed it again to make sure I am up-to-date with all the new models and the product updates
Q: How do you find your customers for Kinedo?
A: I’ve been a bathroom and kitchen fitter for many years now, so I get a lot of repeat
business. My customers tend to trust my word, so if I believe a Kinedo cubicle is right for their bathroom I will explain the benefits and encourage them to see one in the flesh. However, some customers find the Kinedo website and then find me on the installer section, so that actually works well too.
Q: What do your customers think of the cubicles when you present them?
A: They love the finished effect, especially the white internal glass panels as they do look
really classy. A lot of customers just want a shower out and a new shower in, so the fact that I can remove the old unit, leave the tiles, panels or wall coverings in place and install the Kinedo over the top in under a day means very little hassle. Often, it is part of a whole bathroom renovation, but the reaction is always the same. They really love the look and the ease of cleaning.
Q: As an installer, are you well supported by Kinedo?
A: From the technical team to the admin staff and on-the-road engineers, to a tee they are
all very helpful. It’s very rare to have an issue with a unit, but in over 10 years I have had two instances of an incorrect fitting and a wrong unit despatched and these issues were rectified immediately. I always say there’s no

perfect system/supplier but the difference is in how they respond. And the Kinedo team cannot be faulted in their reaction to any issue. I can also pick up the phone any time for advice.
Q: What do you say to your counterpart installers about the opportunity Kinedo
provides?
A: I would say you certainly would benefit from a background in plumbing, but the installation
is intuitive and straightforward and there is the opportunity to install in under a day. Customers really appreciate that. If I had more time and a handful of brochures, I would be able to sell loads more, so there’s definitely an opportunity. The Kinedo team is always happy to provide training too.
