INDUSTRY VIEWS INDUSTRY Apprenticeship Awareness

Apprenticeships are an important aspect to creating an experienced, knowledgeable and skilled KBB workforce. Hiring an apprentice and how to do so is becoming a familiar topic for many KBB businesses, with a particular demand for the Fitted Furniture Design Technician (FFDT) level three apprenticeship. An FFDT apprentice will develop the skillset to liaise directly with customers, installation and supply teams. The apprentice will then progress to manage projects from design through to installation. A lack of information and training awareness, unfamiliarity with recognised and approved apprenticeship standards within the industry, uncertainty around the costs and confusing terminology have been identified as the main barriers to hiring apprentices.

However, help is available and we recommend that KBB businesses seek support and advice on finding recommended training providers, as well as information on funding, apprenticeship wages and grants. You will soon realise that hiring an apprentice is a viable option.

Investing in the bathroom as a truly private space

As the fourth quarter of the year progresses it’s natural for our attention to drift into what the year ahead may look like. What will the market for bathrooms be like and what will some of the key trends be in 2024? The bathroom remains one of the few truly private spaces in our homes, particularly with the continued shift towards open-plan living overall, and consumers are investing in this space as a sanctuary away from the worries of the world.

As such, we’re predicting more in the way of natural and nature-inspired materials and patterns in bathroom design as we approach 2024, along with clean lines, simple colour palettes, and streamlined designs for creating a minimalist bathroom.

Embracing Furniture As Design Statements

The bathroom market has been transforming in recent years. Homeowners and designers are increasingly drawn to the concept of furniture, not just as functional pieces but as design statements, elevating both aesthetics and functionality. In the bathroom realm, the transition from pedestals to furniture has played a part in furniture evolving to become more integrated and versatile. This change not only enhances storage solutions but also allows for customisation, catering to preferences and space constraints. Moreover, combining different styles of furniture and sanitaryware has become a key element of modern bathroom design. It offers endless possibilities, allowing homeowners to unleash their creativity and elevate their space. Whether it’s the juxtaposition of modern and traditional elements or the harmonious combination of minimalism and maximalism, this art of style fusion adds a unique touch to the bathroom, reflecting personal style and resulting in a visually captivating and balanced bathroom design.
