Sensio – The Power of Lighting, And it’s Importance in Kitchen Design

I

n modern day kitchen design, the focus often revolves around aesthetics and layout, but one element that can make or break the functionality of the space is lighting, specifically task lighting. Designers who overlook the importance of task lighting miss the opportunity to elevate both the practicality and aesthetic appeal of the kitchen.

Task lighting is practical lighting designed to illuminate a space so that it is functional, as they provide sufficient targeted lighting focused where needed. In kitchens, this means prepping, chopping, cooking areas etc. Good task lighting not only offers extra visual appeal to your designs but ensures that these everyday tasks are carried out with ease and comfort for your client.

Advances in Task Lighting Colour temperature:

• The colour of your kitchen cabinets and worktops plays a pivotal role in the overall design theme. The colour temperature of task lighting can dramatically change this design theme as task lighting shines down on work surfaces. Warm light can enhance the grain of wooden worktops while cool lighting is a good choice for lighting marble worktops because it’s bright and crisp. • We recommend choosing products with either TrioTone® or CCT technology. TrioTone® allows you to pre select between cool, natural and warm lighting, whereas CCT Technology allows you to select any colour temperature on the kelvin scale allowing you to cycle through the full temperature scale. Our range of TrioTone® and CCT products gives you the flexibility so you don’t have to compromise on material selection when designing.

Lighting control and flexibility:

• To keep task lighting separate from your main lighting system it’s advised if you put this on a separate switch for your client to turn on and off when they choose. However, with our advances in Smart controls and Kinetic switches you don’t have to stick with the everyday wall switch. • Smart controls such as our Smart driver range, makes your lighting circuit compatible with any

smart device like Alexa or Google allowing the customer to control their task lighting using their voice. While Kinetic switches are a simple way of reducing your installation time down, with no extra wiring or power required.

Elevate your kitchen design by adding task lighting to not only compliment your material choices but to add practical functionality for your client to enjoy for year to come. For more information on how to use task lights or our products contact us on;
