Q&A INTERVIEW WITH THOMAS DUDLEY

Thomas Dudley Mark Morris

Matt: How has 2024 been for Thomas Dudley? Mark: This year has been a landmark one for Thomas Dudley, marked by the launch of our groundbreaking product Quantum, exciting exhibitions, and impressive developments from our export division.

Earlier this year we proudly introduced Quantum, the world’s first pushbutton syphon. This innovative product sets a new benchmark in the industry, showcasing our commitment to pioneering advancements and providing cutting-edge solutions to reduce water wastage in toilet cisterns by eliminating leaking valves. Our team had a fantastic time at the Installer Show, where we exhibited our latest products and connected with industry professionals. The event was a great success, and featured a special guest who officially launched our Quantum product! Bionic from TV’s Gladiators helped us to ‘push the button’ on Quantum. We gained valuable feedback from both the trade and installers, reinforcing our position as leaders in the market.

Our export division, Cronex, has been hard at work developing some remarkable new products. These advancements highlight our dedication to providing British Made products to a wider audience and continuous innovation, ensuring that Thomas Dudley remains at the forefront of the industry.

Matt: What activity is still to come before the end of the year? Mark: We have just finished exhibiting at the Phex North show in Manchester and we are currently deep into the planning stages for ISH 2025 in Frankfurt, for those who have not been to ISH this is a huge exhibition that needs quite a lot of planning to get it right. With Christmas fast approaching we are preparing to launch our

annual Christmas game, keep an eye out for it on our social media feeds as it’s going to be a fun game to play with great prizes to be won!

Matt: Sustainability is high on your agenda; could you tell us all about your recently launched pushbutton syphon?

Matt: Why do you think it’s important to stay true to the “Made in Britain” ethos? Mark: To put it simply, its who we are. Thomas Dudley has been manufacturing in the UK for well over 100 years. By buying from a British company, you are supporting local economies and fostering domestic job growth. The purchase of a Dudley Turbo Edge syphon is helping to keep people employed right here in Dudley, which in turn helps to keep people employed in the local and wider economy. Imported products may be cheaper, but there are no guarantees about the working conditions of those who make them. If you buy from companies that sell mostly imported goods, you cannot always guarantee the working conditions for those employed in its manufacture.

Mark: Quantum is our solution to the leaky loo crises. In the UK enough water is leaking from toilets to fill over 4 MILLION baths EVERY SINGLE DAY. Due to its use of advanced syphonic technology that lifts water with no power assistance, Quantum can reduce leaks that are caused by leaky valves to practically zero! This innovative design is the first time that the practical benefits of a leak free syphon have been coupled with the aesthetically pleasing nature of the pushbutton. Designed with installers and maintenance teams in mind, Quantum boasts a hassle-free installation process and requires a vastly reduced amount of maintenance compared to a standard flush valve. This ensures that both professionals and end-users can enjoy the benefits of this cutting-edge technology with ease.

Matt: What else is Thomas Dudley doing to address sustainability and water conservation? Mark: As well as having a range of products that are specifically aimed at reducing the amount of water used in the toilet cistern such as syphons and delay fill inlet valves, we target our NPD process to design products that use less water while still delivering maximum performance. We have a team of Product Managers and in-house designers that are constantly looking at ways to improve performance, reduce water usage and use less materials.

18 BKU NOVEMBER 2024

Matt: Is there anything you can share with us about your plans for 2025? Mark: We are exhibiting at ISH Frankfurt in 2025 where we will be showcasing some new additions to our Resan range of vandal resistant sanitaryware to a world-wide audience! It’s an exciting time for our Resan brand with multiple new products coming on stream in 2025. We will also be exhibiting again at the Installer show in 2025 at the NEC. We have something exciting planned for the show, I can’t say what it is at the moment but stay tuned to our social media feeds over the next few months where all will be revealed!
