KITCHEN STORAGE
Storage solutions at the heart of kitchen life
W
hile the kitchen may always have been considered to be at the heart of our homes, it has changed dramatically in recent times. It used to be largely hidden away, and used to prepare meals and do the dishes. Now, it has a very different role; the kitchen is very often the focal point of our homes and the centre of family life.
Comment by Daniel Bowler Director, Eggersmann UK
An open-plan layout is favourable to this change, but perhaps one of the biggest considerations now needs to be placed on storage, so that what has become one of the most used and multi-functional rooms in the house is inviting, comfortable and attractive to visitors and family from breakfast-time through to dinner and beyond.
This is why there has been a big shift towards the hidden kitchen; we may be using the space more than ever for a myriad of activities, but there is no longer the desire for the kitchen to look
exactly like a kitchen. Clever kitchen storage creates a seamless look that takes the space from practical workspace to a place to relax and unwind, with practical items like kettles, toasters, knife blocks and chopping boards incorporated into the design rather than left exposed on cluttered worktops.
There is a strong focus on storage that makes our daily lives easier and the job of cooking more fun. Consumers require functional storage and ways to maximise on space at a time when removing walls means that the space itself is at a premium. Popular solutions include sliding doors that open on to an organised shelving arrangement, with pull-out compartments organised to individual needs. It is the internal organisation of furniture, making it easier to store cooking ingredients, pots, pans and crockery and all the other practical kitchen items that will ensure the modern-day kitchen is a functional and stylish heart of our homes.
The hidden kitchen by Eggersmann A
s we’ve all got used to new ways of working and living at home, so the kitchen has become increasingly multi- functional. This means that it really needs to be well organised, with clever storage solutions and ways of making the kitchen look and feel less like a kitchen being important. Hidden appliances, pull-out storage and even full pantry systems when space allows will increasingly be seen in 2022.

Hidden storage from Eggersmann gives a modern update to the traditional larder concept, with everything needed neatly concealed behind closed doors so that the kitchen becomes an extension of our living space.
