he latest WFF Regional Open Tech Day, hosted by Stone Automation Ltd on 7 May, brought together fabricators from across the industry for a day focused on innovation, efficiency and business growth.

Designed specifically to support fabricators looking to improve and grow their operations, the event reinforced the importance of taking time away from the day-to-day running of a business to focus on its future development. Throughout the day, attendees explored the latest technologies and processes shaping modern stone fabrication, with an emphasis on practical solutions that can drive productivity, precision and profitability.

Visitors experienced live demonstrations and expert insight from leading industry brands including Leica Geosystems, Taglio, Donatoni and Wodiam. From digital surveying and slab digitisation to high-speed production technologies, the event showcased how advanced systems are helping fabricators stay ahead in an increasingly competitive marketplace. The venue was filled with stone fabrication professionals, technology specialists and brand partners, all sharing market insights, discussing industry developments and testing the latest machinery, tooling and digital solutions. Conversations flowed throughout the day, with collaboration and knowledge-sharing at the heart of the event.
One of the standout moments came during a live demonstration of the Donatoni Jet625 paired with Wodiam tooling, as the machinery was put through its paces cutting a slab of quartzite. The demonstration drew significant attention from attendees and highlighted the power, precision and efficiency now achievable with modern fabrication technology – one of those moments where, as many attendees agreed, “you had to be there.” Events such as the WFF Regional Open Tech Day continue to play an important role in helping fabricators discover new efficiencies, exchange ideas and gain valuable insight into the future direction of the industry.
