Tapping into brassware design B


athroom brassware offers a lot of potential for retailers, particularly as


this is one area of the room that can be bought as part of a complete refurbishment project or as an individual purchase to give the space a refresh. While baths and sanitaryware remain the largest sector of the market, taps now come a close second, particularly with the growth in retrofit sales, which is an area that tends to remain strong even in times of market uncertainty. Choice is a big selling point for consumers, and


where once a standard chrome finish would have been the best-seller, it now has some healthy competition from brushed metals and matt black.


And as material use in the bathroom evolves to include everything from porcelain and timber to glass and metal, brassware is now being chosen as a complement to these, therefore variety is important. Functionality wise, consumers are conscious of


the importance of water saving, with bathrooms offering one of the best chances of making a significant difference to households. As technology becomes more readily available we are likely to see demand rise for features such as sensor controls on bathroom taps, as trends from the commercial sector filer though to the domestic market. Style is important too of course, and on the


brassware catwalk we are seeing iconic pieces coming through that offer a vital combination of elegance and functionality.
