HiB shows support for bathroom newcomers at the BKU Awards


Leading bathroom product manufacturer HiB has pledged its support to the upcoming iteration of the BKU Awards as the sponsor of the New Bathroom Retailer of the Year category. We sat down with marketing director Steve Kaye to discuss the last twelve months, the company’s commitment to the awards and what the future holds for HiB.


What were HiB’s commercial highlights of 2019, and what are you looking forward to in the coming year? 2019 was a fantastic year for us, especially in respect of new product development. Stand-out launches for spring and summer included Solas, a mirror featuring cutting edge design and market- leading illumination, and Aeon, an industrial-look addition to our Novum range of bathroom furniture. The autumn/winter period saw the highly successful launch of HiB bathroom accessories, including unique innovations such as a toilet roll holder with smart device shelf. To support the new accessories range, we provided creative display boards for showrooms, which proved very popular with our retailers. 2020 is all about marking our 30th year in business, with anniversary celebrations planned throughout the year to engage our customers, partners and staff. We also have several exciting launches planned across our portfolio, with new mirrors and cabinets due for release in spring/summer, and more Novum ranges plus additional accessories for later in the year.


With HiB’s 30th anniversary on the horizon, what would you say the driving factor behind your brand’s success is? Our secret to success is the time and effort we put into supporting our retailers. HiB sales


managers are constantly in touch with our retail partners, offering personalised support and guidance. We even have a specialised team which designs and builds bespoke displays, and a demonstration van which allows showroom owners to get hands-on with our products. Another driving factor is the HiB vision to


only provide products which create a difference to the market. HiB only develops products where there is a gap in the market for them, allowing us to completely own our chosen areas. This has resulted in a consistent flow of unique, cutting-edge products to market which has maintained growth and kept us successful.


What are the best things about working in the sector? The bathroom industry is brilliant for a number of reasons. There is a real sense of community, something which is evident at events such as the BKU awards, and a culture which nurtures innovation. Having been involved in the sector for 30 years, we’ve met such a broad cross- section of people, and the support we’ve had from these relationships both old and new has been brilliant.


On the topic of the BKU Awards, why have you chosen to sponsor the New Bathroom Retailer of the Year award specifically? Since our inception in 1990, HiB has always been dedicated to supporting its retailers, be that through training, marketing support and even help in the displaying of our products in showrooms throughout the country. This award is particularly special because it recognises newcomers to the industry, those businesses which are at the start of their journeys and who will benefit enormously from the recognition of a BKU Award. As a business which takes pride in supporting the bathroom sector, New Bathroom Retailer of the Year seemed like the perfect choice.


Why do you think KBB professionals should get involved with the BKU Awards? The BKU Awards give professionals from across the industry the chance to showcase their achievements and share their experiences with likeminded professionals. We’ve had the privilege of winning Best


Bathroom Accessories Brand three times, as well as receiving a Lifetime Achievement award for our founder and chairman Warren Ginsberg. Those experiences are extremely special to us, and we would absolutely encourage others to enter, or at least attend, the Awards.
