BMA get the nation saving water

T

he Bathroom Manufacturers Association is calling for household water efficiency measures to be included in the

upcoming national spending plans. Government will outline its budget in March, and with the UN Climate

Change Conference taking place in Glasgow in November, we can expect to see a major focus on green issues. Despite the current incidents of flooding, water scarcity is a growing

problem for the UK, as climate change and population growth are predicted to create a structural deficit in water resources by 2050. At BMA we are calling on policymakers to join the dots between

domestic water efficiency and climate action and address the problem in every bathroom in the country. We need a national retrofit strategy to drive change. Two-thirds of water use in the home is in the bathroom, so manufacturers, designers, and installers have a massive roll to play. We need a secure supply of water for our products to function, and we already have water efficient fittings to make a difference. Government has set a strategic goal to reduce our average water use

from 143 to 110 litres per day, but this requires more than lip service. A national retrofit strategy is needed to show commitment, and ensure

water efficient bathroom fittings are installed in every home in the country in the next two decades. This way we can all contribute to meeting the targets and making the changes needed to reduce our water usage.

Kbsa starts new year with four new retail members

T

he Kbsa has begun the New Year with four new retail members. The members are located throughout the UK

and include; Aspire Trade Kitchens in Glasgow, St. Neots Interiors Limited in Cambridgeshire, Alexander with two showrooms in Worthing and Horsham and Kitchen Culture in Kent.

Tracey Bond, MD at Kitchen Culture said, “We will have access to

some great business support benefits from the Kbsa but for us it is all about the community, having the opportunity to improve, grow and learn alongside other like-minded businesses. We are thrilled to be part of something that helps independent retailers work together, especially during these challenging times.” Kbsa national chair Richard Hibbert said, “I am delighted to welcome

these four new members into the association. 2021 promises to be just as challenging as last year and we remain committed to work with government on behalf of the sector, and provide members with invaluable support and business services, helping retailers be stronger together.”
