Q&A BKU AWARDS SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT

Major manufacturer of kitchen and bedroom doors and accessories, BA, has once again pledged its support to the BKU Awards.

stablished in 1990 and operating from Cookstown in Co. Tyrone and

Doncaster and Rotherham in Yorkshire, BA has grown steadily to become a key player in the UK and Irish furniture components industry. To mark the company’s continued commitment to the awards scheme with a difference, we spoke with marketing product specialist Gareth Boyle to discuss the past twelve months and what lays ahead for BA.

BA pledges support to BKU awards 2020 E

What were the commercial highlights of 2019 for BA, and what are you looking forward to the most in the new year? 2019 was a fantastic year for BA with continued growth and sales and as we headed in to our 30th year in 2020, our operating profit rose by 10% to £3.6m. We’re now celebrating 30 years in business

so 2020 will be a big year for BA, and we’re firmly positioned for a new development strategy which will see major announcements this year including the positioning of our Blossom Avenue brand.

What would you say are the main driving factors behind BA’s success? We offer a unique and sustainable level of quality of both product and service. We invest in our transport, operating from three factories across the UK and Ireland, and through the development of our Blossom Avenue brand we’re now aiming to drive even more footfall to our retail partners, coupled with greater marketing support.

What are the best things about working in the KBB market? The people and the products!

Why has BA chosen to support the BKU Awards again in 2020? The BKU Awards have a huge degree of authority and integrity in the industry because the professionals within it have a say on who goes home with the awards, we’re proud to have our brand support the awards and the event. The event itself also gives us a great

opportunity to meet with our retail partners and peers within the industry and is therefore an excellent networking opportunity.

This year, BA is sponsoring the New Kitchen

Retailer of the Year category. What was the decision behind committing the company’s support to this particular award? The kitchen retail industry is going from

strength to strength, and we’re excited to supply to some of the top up and coming outlets opening across the UK and Ireland. Supporting this category means supporting the future of the kitchen supply and fitting industry, which is clearly in very good hands with some of the stores that have opened in the past five years? We need to ensure the ‘bricks and mortar’ store continues to thrive and doesn’t get overtaken by online sales.

The BKU Awards has a strong ethos. How does this align with BA’s own values? BA continues to support the The BKU Awards, because we both believe in the industry and want to support and celebrate the achievements and successes of our peers. This is important to us as BKU supports the growth and diversity of our industry as we continue to grow and develop as one of the leading companies within it.

Having been involved in the Awards before, what would you say to anyone considering getting involved or attending the ceremony? Everyone is a winner with the BKU Awards, and there is a category for everyone. We look forward to seeing old and new friends and colleagues and all who will be in attendance.
