AXOR supplies luxury brassware to exclusive Treehouse Hotel, London

ocated on Langham Place, next to the iconic BBC Broadcasting House, the new Treehouse Hotel is the first UK-based hotel from the 1Hotels Group and Barry Sternlicht. Introducing a new type of hospitality to the capital, Treehouse’s success comes from its nostalgic home-from-home concept. The spirited yet stylish interiors are founded on the ideas that inspire a child to build a treehouse, including adventure, cosy spaces and a repurposing of materials. With impressive views of the London skyline, all 95 rooms (including 15

L

suites) have been crafted to offer more than the typical guest experience. Each bathroom is designed to combine luxurious living with the latest technical advancement. Nestled against the iconic birch trees found throughout the hotel’s interior, all of the en-suite bathrooms are fully equipped with quality and innovative brassware from the classic AXOR Montreux range. Complementing crittal-style screens and cabinetry, the industrial inspired basin mixers, hand-showers and accessories are finished in Brushed Black Chrome to create a truly unified aesthetic. The AXOR Montreux Overhead Shower, designed by Pheonix Design

and reminiscent of the grand hotels of the 1920s, delivers an unbeatable spa- like showering experience with AXOR’s innovative RainAir spray technology. Relaxing shower rain, enriched with air inside the showerhead, makes for exceptionally soft and plump beads of water that cocoon the body. Commenting on the project, Anand Gandesha, Marketing Hansgrohe UK

said, ‘AXOR’s shower and basin mixers offered the design, comfort and functionality the team were looking for when specifying products for the Treehouse Hotel. As leaders in bathroom design and innovation, all AXOR products combine impeccable form with function. The Treehouse Hotel follows a similar design mantra and as such we’re proud to have supplied AXOR products for such a remarkable and iconic London hotel.’

COVID response could usher renewed optimism

T

he new decade started with a sense of optimism, sadly dashed by the current public health crisis. On the supply side in the KBB industry, there was concern that our reliance on far eastern imports could create real stock difficulties. As Europe has become the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic, that

concern has quickly flipped to become a demand-side worry. Many consumers are giving the High Street a wide berth and are becoming hesitant about allowing contractors in homes. Amid the hyperbole in twenty-four-seven news coverage, there are

reasons to stay positive. At the time of writing, BMA has heard that most of members’ channels to market are holding up well in the circumstances. We’re adapting well: office-based staff working from home, and, necessity being the mother of invention, manufacturing and distribution operations continuing in earnest. I welcome the Chancellor’s mantra to “do whatever it takes”. At present

that means cashflow support through the crisis. At the other end, a real stimulus could help the sector thrive. That means boosting construction beyond what was announced in the Budget, and dramatic reduction or removal of VAT on home improvements. Let’s see if the Chancellor is serious.
