GOODBYE, AND GOOD LUCK


This is the last time you’ll hear from me as editor of Image Reports, so I want to say a huge thank you for your support during my 16 years at the helm, and to wish you well for the future.


Successfully moving forward means having as much salient information as possible on which to make strategic decisions, so this issue the technical focus is on developments in data collection and analysis, and on machine diagnostics. Turn to p18 to find out what some of the industry’s key players are saying on the topics. I’ve also been speaking to some of the large-format print sector’s print chiefs on other ‘hot’ topics, including Nigel Webster, founder of Decoverb, on the opportunities in acoustic panel printing (p26), and to Moss Group UK operations director Mark Rose on the need for environmental collaboration across the sector (p9).


Speaking of collaboration, you’ll see in the news pages that the Young People in Print team is calling for PSPs to throw open their doors on 23 October - the tenth annual International Print Day – to welcome visits from local schools and colleges in an attempt to bring more youngsters into the industry. Indeed, we need to take stock of just how we present print to the wider world – IPIA research subcommittee chair Alasdair Browne speaks out on the issue in the Talking Point interview on p10.


It really has been a privilege to be involved in such a fantastic sector, with such fabulous people. We need to let a wider audience/ customer base know about it!
