Over to You
Carl Criscione standing with the Fujifilm Acuity Triton at FESPA
I run the company with my brother, and this one rings true; ‘if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.’ I also like ‘actions speak louder than meetings’.
What is your proudest achievement? There are a few milestones I’m really proud of. Expanding internationally, landing some of our first blue-chip global clients, but above all, building a company that stays true to its values. Creating a sustainable, family-rooted business that still innovates and competes at the top level globally.
Where do you see the business going in five years?
I see Equinox expanding further into immersive tech and hybrid event solutions. We’ll likely open additional production capacity internationally, but always with a sustainable foundation.
OVER TO YOU
Carl Criscione, Managing director, Equinox Group
www.equinox-grp.com
THE EQUINOX GROUP IS A FAMILY-FOUNDED BUSINESS, SPECIALISING IN EVENT PRODUCTION AND EXHIBITION DESIGN. THE COMPANY HAS JUST ADDED TO ITS HARDWARE BY BEING THE FIRST TO INVEST IN THE FUJIFILM ACUITY TRITON, WHICH WAS BOUGHT AFTER SEEING IT AT FESPA. MANAGING DIRECTOR, CARL CRISCIONE, TELLS US MORE.
What is having the greatest impact on your business at the moment? There’s a clear resurgence in live events and exhibitions after a few challenging years (read COVID), and that’s having a huge impact. Clients want to make a big impression, and they want those experiences to be memorable, sustainable, and technically seamless. We’re navigating increased costs across energy, materials, and logistics, so being efficient and future-focused in our investments is critical.
Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities? The biggest opportunities are in experiential environments, custom exhibition graphics, pop-up retail, and branded interiors. Clients increasingly want tailor-made solutions that feel immersive and high-impact. We’re also seeing growing demand for sustainable materials and low-energy processes in wide-format print, which is where forward-thinking equipment like the Triton comes in.
What would/is making your day-to-day operations easier? Technology and process integration are making a huge difference. We’ve invested a lot in automation, planning software, and equipment that allows for faster turnaround and less waste. Reliable, versatile hardware – like the Fujifilm Acuity Triton – which we are hoping will significantly streamline our workflow. The less time spent troubleshooting and recalibrating, the more we can focus on creativity and execution.
What is your favourite bit of kit? It has to be the Fujifilm Acuity Triton. The flexibility it will offer in terms of materials and the outstanding print quality will have a positive impact, I know the team are looking forward to delivering more complex and ambitious designs.
What is the best bit of business advice you have been given?
26 | June/July 2025
How long have you been in the industry? What attracted you to it? I was hungover, and one Sunday, my father asked me to move over from my then marketing agency role, and I’ve never looked back. It’s fast-paced, creative, and you get to work with some of the world’s leading brands. That variety and challenge still excite me today. The people help, they tend to have a touch of crazy in this industry, which I enjoy.
What is the key to your business’ success? Consistency, innovation, and a strong company culture. We deliver what we promise, we’re always exploring new ways to do things better, and we’ve built a team that’s passionate about quality and sustainability.
You have recently invested in a Fujifilm Acuity Triton. Why this product and how has it helped your company? We chose the Triton because it aligns with both our performance and sustainability goals. It’s fast, precise, and handles a wide variety of media, which is essential for the kind of bespoke, high- impact work we do. The energy efficiency and reduced waste output are a big win too. We can’t wait to get hold of it.
What are your impressions of the Fujifilm Acuity Triton? I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this at drupa and then a full demo at FESPA, it’s an impressive piece of kit. The quality of output is outstanding, especially on challenging materials. It’s been shown to be fast, reliable, and intuitive for the team to operate. The combination of speed, sustainability, and print quality makes it a standout.
What other investments, if any, has the company lined up? We’re currently looking at upgrading our CNC routing capabilities and adding new VR/AR tech for hybrid exhibition environments. We’re also investing further in energy efficiency across our facility, including expanded solar capacity.
