Intec releases ColorCut FB1180-T cutter
New from Intec Printing Supplies is the FB1180-T B1+ tangential digital die cutter. Sporting a quad toolhead, the flatbed machine can cut and crease substrates up to 3mm thick. The head includes two passive contour/drag cut and crease tools and two active tangential tools using a new deep cutting tangential blade and tangential crease wheel. The FB1180-T has working modes: Direct, using Intec’s ColorCut Pro software direct from a PC; or Held mode (standalone operation) where jobs can be stored internally on the cutter or from a USB stick. All Intec cutters offer instant job processing when reading a QR code and page marks printed on a sheet. However, this is no longer necessary with a new page edge detection feature included on the FB1180-T. This enables processing of printed jobs, from the rear of the sheet where there are no QR codes or page merks printed.
Imageco gets £45,000 grant
Imageco has received a £45,000 grant from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as a result of its commitment to improving entry-level employment opportunities within the city. The company, which has a team of 28, has recently made five new entry-level hires. The new capital will help the expanding firm buy a swissQprint Nyala 4 flatbed printer to diversify its services.
MD Nathan Swinson-Bullough said: “We’re thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant of £45,000 by LEP
. The grant will allow
us to further our investment into creating new jobs, growth and sustainable business development for our company. We would like to say a massive thank you to the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership for granting us this funding.” The new Nyala 4 printer comes at a turning point for Imageco, which over the past six months has expanded its international work with a number of world-renowned brands such as Dr. Martens. As a result, Imageco’s work can now be seen in retail stores across Europe and the team hopes the £45k grant will prompt more international, large-scale projects with the new machine helping it enter new markets and push the limits of creative print.
Swinson-Bullough added: “This boost in
investment will not only allow us to take our work to the next level but also invest in our staff. We are committed to creating the best work environment for our employees, and a large part of that is supporting their long-term career growth. The grant given by LEP will allow us to give our new starters the training they need to succeed in the industry.”

InkTec brings out UV DTF printer
InkTec has launched a UV DTF printer with the option for either a 60cm or 30cm print width. Managing director Joey Kim said: “Building on the success of the compact DTF printer and solutions launched earlier this year, it was a natural progression to also introduce a UV DTF printer. As the UV technology applies varnish at the same time during the printing process, the result is a glossy, strong finish which quickly adheres to the medium it is being applied to.” Priced from £10,600 for the 30cm model, the printers are supplied with a manufacturer’s warranty, maintenance instructions and training on the day of installation by InkTec’s engineers. In addition, InkTec offers specialist UV DTF film and inks in CMYK, plus white and varnish.
consuming less than half the power of many other eco-solvent and latex/resin printers according to Mimaki’s own research. A new ink saving function reduces consumption by up to 50% while maintaining the colour balance of the printed design, with ink reduction levels set by the operator using RasterLink7 software. There is also a function that pulls back the printed substrate to enable up to three-layer printing.
The UJV100-160Plus links with Mimaki’s CG-AR cutting plotters, enabling users to output cut data directly from RasterLink7 to the plotter.

WTTB snaps up European rights to comms platform
WTTB has secured the European rights to CAMI, a system that allows people to deliver personalised video messages via a special downloadable QR code. Users will simply buy a code on the WTTB website (initially £4 each) and then can upload a 29 second video via the CAMI site to create their content, which can then be used in a variety of ways. Gary Peeling, CEO of WTTB, believes that CAMIcodes are a real game changer. “We know that video content is a really effective way to get people to engage and improve brand awareness,” he said, “and this system has gone one step further and created technology which has such widespread, positive implications for both the consumer and business. Adding a CAMIcode to printed materials will introduce a whole new level of positive interaction.”
