New Vutek h+ printers from EFI

Electronics For Imaging has announced new Vutek h3+ and h5+ hybrid flatbed/roll-fed LED printers, re-engineered versions of the Vutek h series machines, to bring enhanced printing and media handling capabilities. Media handling improvements are one of the most notable enhancements with the Vutek h+ series. An upgraded vacuum table allows for better control of thicker media and thin-light- edged materials thanks to double the vacuum strength on the print table. All new media hold- down rollers mount to existing Media Edge Guide (MEG) rails and the spring rollers force media into the vacuum, often eliminating the need for MEG skis. When MEG skis are needed, they are now available in 0.063 in, 0.094 in, and 0.012 in thicknesses. The Vutek h+ series offers new optional colour configurations too: CMYKcmyk + W + Clear, CMYK x 2 + 2W, and CMYK x 2 + Clear. Building on the success of the EFI UltraClear Coat flexible ink introduced for EFI superwide roll-to-roll LED printers, EFI has extended the offering to the Vutek h3+ and h5+ printers. A second clear ink, EFI Vutek Endura Clear, which has a harder surface finish for increased protective qualities, is also now available for the new printers. More developments are in the works for

Vutek h+ series printers, too. Expected soon is enhanced double-sided printing for high-value block-out applications. Existing Vutek h3 and h5 printer owners can opt to upgrade their current unit with most of the new enhancements to the Vutek h+ series printers.

Agfa launches souped-up Anapurna H3200

Agfa has launched the Anapurna H3200 3.2m wide-format hybrid printer, which boasts an almost 70% increase in printing speed (in production mode) over its predecessor The Anapurna H3200 features a 6-colour plus white inkset and UV LED curing. However, both the print shuttle and print engine have been redesigned, and the printheads themselves have a throughput of up to 66m2/hr in production mode. Additionally, the printer’s newly implemented continuous board feeding capacity enables efficient printing on rigid materials, with the capability to print up to four boards printed simultaneously.

Agfa said the enhanced print shuttle also contributes to improved image quality, particularly noticeably in darker solid tones, while its patented Thin Ink Layer technology ensures minimal ink consumption. The new Anapurna H3200 debuted at the C!Print exhibition in Lyon, France, in February and will be shown at Fespa Global (Amsterdam, 19-22 March).

Mimaki Europe changes MD and preps for launches

Takao Terashima has been appointed the new managing director of Mimaki Europe, where he succeeds Takahiro Hiraki. Meanwhile, it has been announced that during Fespa Global, Mimaki Europe will demonstrate two yet to be launched products at daily visitor tours to its experience centre, ten minutes away from the exhibition halls. During the daily Mimaki experience centre

tours, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Mimaki portfolio - spanning sign graphics, textile, and 3D printing technologies

- as well as demonstrations of the two new products, that the company said will assist printers in signage expand their offering even further.

Registration for the tours is available online.

Mimaki will also launch an industrial textile printing system in its ‘sustainability corner’. And following Mimaki’s recent move into the DTF market, the company’s latest addition, the TxF300-75, will be demonstrated at an EMEA-wide show for the first time.

RGVA starts to offer Clean Air truck graphics

Maidstone-based commercial fleet graphics specialist RGVA, in conjunction with Hollywood Monster, is launching an air-cleaning trailer graphics solution based on Clean Air by Resysten - the clear, spray-on coating which, when activated by sunlight, breaks down airborne pollutants. RGVA is now offering the solution on its Traxx trailer framing system.

The ISO certified product developed by Clean Air primarily targets harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) pollutants - a single trailer fitted with Traxx banners can negate the impact of 2,555 average vehicle journeys per year. Mike Freely, director, said: “We have been

working as part of a joint venture with Resysten, the company that created the original advanced antimicrobial surface coating. Together, we have developed that technology over a number of years into an atmospheric pollutant remover. “The premise of the system is simple - the combination of a trailer’s large surface area and the distances it travels gives the Clean Air coating plenty of opportunities to work its magic. Breaking down airborne pollutants simply by passing through them, we’re able to help businesses as they strive to cut emissions and improve sustainability.” The Clean Air coating’s core ingredient - titanium dioxide (TiO2) - is a photocatalyst that uses sunlight to break down NOx particles into harmless

New ColorCut FB780-T from Intec

New from Intec Printing Solutions is the B2 ColorCut FB780-T digital die flatbed cutter and tangential creaser. The 2.5kg machine has two independent tools in

the carriage head, including a passive contour/drag cut tool and an active tangential crease wheel tool, to handle a broad range of media and applications. There is page edge detection on this unit, enabling the processing of printed jobs from the rear of the sheet where there are no QR codes or page marks printed. Intuitive ColorCut Pro 5 software supplied with the FB780-T allows working directly with leading graphic design applications such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw.

nitrogen, oxygen and nitrates, dispersing them back into the environment. Clean Air has achieved ISO 22197-1 accreditation for the specialist coating, demonstrating an ability to decompose NOx at a rate of 222mg per m2 per day. With 64m2 of Traxx banners fitted to a standard 13.6m trailer, a treated system will come into contact with 12,800m3 of air each day, ‘cleaning’ around 5.2kg of NOx over a year. RGVA managing director Kieran McCabe said: “Though the science behind the Clean Air product is well established, we’ve been working on perfecting it for the transport industry for some time. Through RGVA and Hollywood Monster’s graphics expertise, we’re now able to provide fleet operators with a movable marketing and promotional tool that also delivers a workable sustainability solution - it’s a combination that we’re excited to showcase to our customers.” Printing of the Traxx banners and the application of the coating is carried out by Hollywood Monster. CEO Simon McKenzie said: “This product has the ability to make a big impact at a negligible cost. With looming net zero deadlines, we want to remove the barriers for companies trying to find ways to reduce their day-to-day environmental.

Ricoh to make Fespa Global introductions

Ricoh will use Fespa Global Print Expo to launch an industrial direct-to-film solution using Ricoh Pro DTF ink and a new powder shaker technology. Brand new too will be its first compact-footprinted hybrid printer to be based on Flora digital technology. The Ri 4000 DTG printer with newly

developed enhancer liquid and ink for industrial garment printing will also get its first European show outing, and visitors will get the chance to see demonstrations of the roll-to-roll Ricoh Pro L5160e Latex extended gamut system and the Ricoh Pro TF6251UV.
