A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

You have to love spring! Of course, this being the UK, you may be snowed in as you read this, but being ever optimistic I’ve put together an issue that reflects what this season is all about - new life and promise. Having seen an abundance of new products and solutions at the recent Sign and Digital UK I’m now readying for Fespa Global, where we’ll no doubt see myriad more new introductions to help large-format print companies flourish. There’s a guide to the show on p10, as well as a Talking Point interview with Fespa CEO Neil Felton on p12.

Growing business is about more than forking out on new production kit and systems of course, and on p14 you can read about the necessity for experimentation. Dare I mention AI as one of those areas of experimentation? There’s so much noise surrounding the topic that it’s easy to just switch off, but as Matic Media/Graphic Warehouse MD Richard McCombe explains in Top Tips on p16, have a play around with some of the free tools and you’ll soon realise how they can help your business blossom. Bear in mind too that Futureprint is running its first ‘AI for print conference’ in April. There’s more on that on p19, where some of the key equipment suppliers to this sector answer the question “How are you incorporating AI into your offerings - and to what benefit for print companies?”

All things environmental remain another key focus, and on pX it’s clear that is having a massive impact on inks development for this ever evolving sector, while on p23 you’ll find a piece looking at Modernistic, a digital wide-format printer based in Minnesota, that has a truly impressive sustainability plan for a greener future.
