Fujifilm announces price hikes

Fujifilm has announced double digit percentages price increases, from 18 March, to a range of its hardware products, consumables and services as the European market continues to be impacted by geopolitical influences and inflationary challenges. The company said these challenges include an unprecedented increase in labour costs, sharply rising freight and warehousing rates, continuously high energy prices, and increased prices from Fujifilm’s own suppliers. Taku Ueno, senior vice president, Fujifilm Graphic Communications, Europe, said: “Despite our best

efforts to absorb the impact of these increases, we can no longer avoid raising the prices of many of our products and services. The prices will be increased by double digit percentages, the exact amount dependent on the product range, and be effective from 18 March, 2024, with the news communicated directly to customers affected. “At Fujifilm we remain committed to

providing high quality products and services and will continue to work to mitigate any further cost impacts.”

Canon brings out imagePrograf GP range

Canon has launched a range of 7-colour imagePrograf GP large-format printers, designed predominantly for poster production. There are three models: the 60in/1524mm GP-6600S and 44in/1118mm GP- 4600S - which replace the Pro-6100S and Pro-4100S respectively - and the 24in/610mm GP-2600S. Combined with a new pigment ink set, Lucia

Pro II, the new series delivers A0 size posters on uncoated paper within 48 seconds and provides an expanded colour gamut and greater image durability. The new inkset includes orange and grey. As a result, the colour gamut reproducible is said to hit 96% of the Pantone Formula Guide Solid Coated sample book. The inks are also said to provide substantially improved abrasion resistance on photo papers, and a very light-resistant pigment in the inkset means prints can preserved for up to 200 years.

The GP printers have dual roll capability, allowing a second roll of a different media type and size to

Four Pees launches spin-off Atomyx platform

The team behind Four Pees has launched a cloud- based print production management platform called Atomyx. This has been spun-off from Four Pees as a separate company to stimulate its growth by allowing other partners, resellers, and consultants to provide services around the platform. Designed as a user-friendly iPaaS, Atomyx allows non-technical users to integrate various data sources, including online platforms, SaaS applications, and on-premise data into a unified cloud-based service.

The system comprises three products - Atomyx Manage, Atomyx Prepare, and Atomyx Layout. The Atomyx Manage connectivity and production management dashboard provides order visualisation, automation, and manual intervention capabilities. Atomyx Prepare is built on callas pdfToolbox technology and is a pre-press/PDF processing API that allows dynamic printability checks, colour conversions and file preparation. The Atomyx Layout API optimises media usage through automated layout planning for widely different printing technologies.

be loaded at the same time so that that the user can automatically switch from printing on matte to gloss paper without interrupting the workflow. By accelerating the automatic media feeding process, the media loading time has also been reduced by approximately 40%. In line with Canon’s goal of reducing the

environmental footprint of its products it has reduced the amount of expanded polystyrene packaging material used for the new series. In addition, its reduced power consumption - using 94W or less during operation and 2.2W or less during standby - as well as other satisfied criteria, has helped the series achieve a ‘Gold’ product rating under the US EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Registry, the highest level of registration in the field of imaging equipment products. The new imagePrograf GP series is available from March 2024 across EMEA either directly from Canon or through one of its accredited resellers.

Agfa and EFI forge strategic partnership

Agfa and EFI have entered into a partnership that will see Agfa integrate EFI’s roll-to- roll system into its offerings, while EFI will incorporate Agfa’s hybrid inkjet printers into its suite of solutions. Fespa Global will see Agfa and EFI showcasing the potential of this collaboration at their stands. Pascal Juéry, CEO of Agfa-Gevaert, said: “Digital Print is one of our company’s key growth engines. This partnership with EFI will broaden the range of options we can offer and expand the market reach for our state-of-the-art solutions. It truly is a milestone for our company and for the wide- format printing industry at large.” Frank Pennisi, CEO of EFI, added: “For

over 30 years, EFI has focused on the analogue to digital conversion of high-value print applications. We are excited for this next chapter and the ability to leverage the strengths of both organisations to move the industry forward.”
