Partnership extends control to more heat pump households
All the
accessories for low-carbon systems
Heating and plumbing distributor, Navigator, has introduced a range of renewable energy accessories manufactured by Thorsys. The collection is designed to support the installation of heat pumps and other low-carbon heating systems. The range includes filters and
pumps, hoses and clips, valves and inlets, filling loops and air vents, buffer tanks, isolation switches,
The Works With Hive programme now includes Daikin air source heat pumps, allowing Daikin heat pumps to connect with Hive’s home energy management technology. This enables users to monitor and manage their heating through the Hive app. With the addition of Daikin, Works With Hive now connects to
approximately 33% of the UK air source heat pump market, giving more households access to seamless, smart control of low-carbon heating systems. The announcement builds on the successful trial previously launched between Hive and Daikin to integrate air source heat pumps with Hive’s home energy management technology. Through the Works With Hive programme, this collaboration now moves into a broader, long-term partnership – giving more customers access to integrated heating controls designed to optimise comfort, efficiency and cost savings. For homeowners, the integration provides a more connected experience, allowing heating, tariffs and smart controls to work together. It also gives users the ability to monitor energy use and access tariffs such as Heat Power, which offers reduced electricity prices. For installers, it offers clear guidance on compatibility with major ASHP brands, reducing uncertainty during installation. Tom Pakenham, commercial director of Hive, comments: “The future
of low-carbon heating isn’t just about installing a heat pump – it’s about making sure it works brilliantly within the wider home energy system. That’s why bringing Daikin and Hive together is such an important step.” ◼

Smart system is across all the data
Connect Box from Siemens is a compact IoT solution designed to manage heating and hot water in smaller buildings. The system collects environmental data through sensors placed inside and outside the building, including temperature, pressure and flow return readings, which are transmitted to the cloud using standard protocols or LoRaWAN. Heating is regulated through
intelligent valves that respond to this data, allowing the system to operate on a demand and control
basis. Connect Box also includes alarm functionality, alerting users automatically when readings exceed set thresholds. Beyond heating management, the multi-sensor monitors indoor air quality, measuring factors such as CO2 levels, humidity, and airborne particulates.
copper and stainless steel pressfit connections, rubber mounts and feet, brackets and floor stands, heat pump cages, cable and pipe trunking – everything needed to install heat pumps. Navigator is already putting together heat pump packs for a manufacturer
that will allow installers to undertake installations with every piece of equipment required in the pack they purchase alongside a heat pump. “The new Thorsys brochure
contains the most comprehensive selection of quality renewables equipment you will find in the UK,” says Navigator’s MD Tim Manton. “It’s another example of the quality products we supply here at Navigator and highlights the importance of selecting a merchant that carries the Navigator and Thorsys branded products that make working in the heating and plumbing sector so worthwhile and straightforward.” ◼

Take advantage of the flexibility markets
Through a new partnership, Kensawill be offering the PassivSmart Thermostat to give heat pump users smarter, optimised control, out of the box. The partnership giveshomeowners and residents intuitive, intelligent, heat pump-specific controls that cut heating bills by up to 30%, while supporting a more flexible, lower- carbon electricity grid. Kensa customers will also gain
access to Passiv’sGreener Grid Payment scheme, which rewards households for helping balance the electricity grid during periods of constraint. By intelligently flexing heat pump operation without affecting comfort, homeowners can earn money while supporting renewable generation and grid stability.
Recently, the Connect Box was
used at Barkers’ Butts RFC, where engineers installed the system in the clubhouse alongside intelligent valves and a series of sensors. A multi-sensor was mounted on the interior wall to track temperature and environmental conditions, while an additional sensor on the outer wall recorded external temperature. The installation involved connecting the valves and sensors to the Connect Box, allowing data to be transmitted to the cloud. Once operational, the system automatically regulated the heating based on real-time readings. The installation succeeded in reducing energy consumption while optimising heating for the clubhouse. ◼

Modular electric UFH heating thermostat
The DEVIreg Display Connect by Devi is a programmable thermostat for electric underfloor heating, providing Bluetooth and Zigbee connectivity for integration with smart home systems. Its modular design allows the upper section to be replaced while reusing the power supply, reducing waste and installation time. The thermostat supports pre-heat scheduling to reach desired temperatures efficiently and can be managed remotely via the DEVI Connect app, which controls up to 200 units. It is compatible with standard frames and wall boxes and certified to Ecodesign Lot 20 for energy-efficient heating. ◼

Ned Lamb, director of commercial
strategy at Kensa, says: “Our mission is to deliver heating that’s better for everyone – for Kensa that means offering a solution that offers the lowest bills with no sacrifices on
comfort.Being able to specify the PassivSmart Thermostatwith no extras neededmeans homeowners can make the most ofsmarter tariffs and flexibility markets, helping them earn money back, while enjoying year- round comfort.” The Passiv control works out of the
box with Kensa heat pumps, giving homeowners and residents simple, intuitive controls on the wall and
via the Passiv app, removing complexity and saving them money. ◼

Efficient way to store heat
Combining high heat retention with intelligent, self-learning control, Dimplex Quantum is an electric storage heating system designed to manage energy use and maintain consistent indoor temperatures. The heaters store off-peak electricity and release heat according to demand, aiming to balance efficiency with steady comfort in domestic settings. The system incorporates features such as Adaptive Start and Open
Window Detection, which automatically adjust output based on user routines and environmental changes. Compatible units can connect to the Dimplex Hub and be managed through the Dimplex Control app, allowing remote scheduling, monitoring and operation via Boost and Away modes. The Quantum is said to be able to reduce energy use by up to 27%
compared with older storage heaters, based on improvements in insulation, heat management, and energy-use optimisation. The units carry the BEAB safety mark and a ten-year guarantee. The heaters are designed with a casing and footprint that facilitate
replacement of older units, covering existing fixings and reducing the need for additional redecoration. ◼
