Expansion plans for UK cylinder specialist

Walsall-based Advance Appliances, which has celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, has announced plans to expand the business following investment in a new production facility and the development of a range of fully recyclable hot water storage cylinders. Founded in 2005 by Geoff

Egginton, the company off ers thermal stores, heat pump cylinders, buff er stores and electric boilers, all compatible with renewable technologies such as solar and heat pumps. Geoff explains: “Our

investment in a state-of-the-art facility in Walsall has enabled us to design and manufacture fully recyclable hot water storage

Cylinder sizing guidance

A new report that explores hot water cylinder sizing for domestic heat pump systems with showers has been published by Showersave. Titled, ‘Hot water cylinder sizing for domestic heat pump systems with showers: Accounting for Waste Water Heat Recovery and Instantaneous Electric Showers’, the report seeks to clarify shortcomings in existing guidance. With heat pumps expected to play a

It can also support merchants, housing providers, housebuilders and other organisations with their environmental obligations, such as ISO-14001.” Business development director

Richard Prince adds: “The new facility has been trans- formational. It has enabled us to innovate, scale effi ciently and bring to market a fully recyclable hot water storage cylinder, which is something unique in the UK heating sector. As the company celebrates its 20th birthday, it isn’t just growth we are celebrating, it’s sustainable growth with lasting impact.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/126/40

Top marks for hot water system upgrade

new equipment was housed in a refurbished external plant room to help minimise disruption. “Evo S and WaterMaster Evo

provided the ideal solution for this project,” explains Philip Cornes of CHL. “We’ve worked with ACV for over 15 years, and the support is always outstanding. From the initial enquiry through to aftercare, the ACV team is knowledgeable, responsive and a pleasure to deal with.” Ideal for plant room upgrades,

Whiston Willis Primary Academy in Merseyside has benefi ted from a major upgrade to its heating and hot water system with the help of ACV UK. The project was designed to deliver reliability, energy effi ciency and minimal disruption during installation. Working closely with ACV,

specialist contractor CHL Mechanical Services designed and installed a bespoke system that included two Evo S wall-mounted condensing boilers for the infant school, alongside two Evo S boilers and two WaterMaster Evo gas-fi red condensing water heaters at the junior school. The

A range of heat pump accessories, including unvented cylinders, has been introduced by City Plumbing under its exclusive Solfex brand. Featuring a high-fl ow, high-gain, full bore coil design to provide superior performance, the Solfex cylinders are supplied with all the required components and controls to provide compatibility with the majority of heat pumps, and all come with a 10-year warranty. “We are focused on providing high-quality,

cost-eff ective solutions for installers as we move towards more sustainable energy solutions, so widening the Solfex range into air source heat pump accessories means our installers can have the convenience of being able to access all the products they need from one location,” says MD Hemal Mojaria. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/126/43

Additionally, the WaterMaster Evo provides rapid hot water recovery, ensuring a consistent supply during peak demand periods, which is a crucial factor for busy school environments with fl uctuating usage patterns. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/126/42

central role in the Future Homes Standard, Showersave is urging housebuilders to consider the benefi ts of Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems (WWHRS) and Instantaneous Electric Showers (IES). The report explores how WWHRS and IES can reduce hot water demand, how WWHRS can lower electricity consumption by pre-heating the incoming cold water, and why improved hot water cylinder-sizing models are needed to accurately refl ect the impact of these technologies. No expansion kits means no hassle

Excelsior, a division of the Fabdec Group, off ers bespoke stainless steel water heater cylinders. Manufactured in the UK from high-grade duplex stainless steel, these cylinders are resistant to corrosion and tailored to meet the specifi c requirements of both domestic and commercial applications. A standout feature of the

Excelsior range is the patented 3S (Self-Sustaining System) Technology. This system eliminates the need for an external expansion vessel by utilising the Venturi eff ect to automatically replenish the internal air gap as water is drawn from the mains. This design not only simplifi es installation but also reduces maintenance requirements, off ering a

maintenance-free experience for users. The cylinders are available in

various capacities, ranging from 80 to 500 litres, and come in both direct and indirect models to accommodate diff erent heating sources, including electric, gas, heat pump, and solar systems. For further

Manufactured to meet market demand

The range of hot water cylinders from Grant UK has been extended with the Quick Recovery 2 (QR2) Cylinders, all manufactured at Grant Engineering’s production facility in Co. Off aly, Ireland. The Quick Recovery 2 models are single-coil cylinders which

are compatible with both high temperature and low temperature heating systems but have been specifi cally designed to complement air source heat pumps such as the Grant Aerona 290 and Aerona3

heat pumps. Off ering fast heat-up times and excellent standing heat

losses, the cylinders are available in sizes from 150 litres up to 300 litres and off er standard, slimline, pre-plumbed and Smart

pre-plumbed options. Each model has a duplex stainless steel inner shell, with a

large internal coil made from 22mm stainless steel tubing, while high levels of insulation around the cylinder shell are completed with a galvanised outer casing. They include a factory-fi tted 3kW immersion heater, labelled tappings and connections, and are supplied with an unvented kit as standard. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/126/44
