Smart underfloor heating system focuses on ease of integration
Heat network solutions join NIBE’s portfolio
NIBE Energy Systems Limited has added Cetetherm’s Pioneer Heat Interface Unit (HIU) and substation products to its UK portfolio, broadening its capability to support both multi-dwelling schemes and district energy applications. A dedicated heat networks team has been created to oversee the introduction, with staff bringing previous Cetetherm experience into the business. The Cetetherm Pioneer HIU is a
fourth-generation model designed for use with district heating and heat-pump-led systems. It is built to operate at low return temperatures, typically 55–65°C supply, which supports overall network efficiency.
The unit includes smart control via Cetetherm’s myUplink system, allowing for remote optimisation and monitoring, and is available in a compact, pre- assembled format to simplify installation. It holds BESA and UK Reg4 approvals. The product integrates plate heat
exchangers to deliver space heating and domestic hot water on demand, with provision for individual energy metering and billing. Additional features include real-time monitoring, humidity control, and compatibility with a range of network configurations. Gulam Seedat, heat network specialist
at NIBE, says: “The Pioneer HIU combines remote optimisation, low-temperature efficiency and precise real-time monitoring. For bespoke builds and retrofits, heat networks offer a scalable, smart, and net-zero compatible solution, and NIBE is now equipped to deliver it.” ▄

With Uponor Smatrix AI, GF offers a solution shaping the next generation of buildings with AI-powered heating that adapts in real time to achieve the highest comfort and increase energy efficiency. Integrating AI into the latest Uponor Smatrix Pulse system for underfloor heating, it enables fast response, keeping the building at ideal temperatures throughout seasons. The cloud-to-cloud connectivity ensures a fast set-up of the system for both new and existing Uponor Smatrix Pulse installations without complicated wiring to the heat pump. The system collects and
analyses data from indoor temperatures, outdoor weather conditions and building characteristics to adjust the supply water temperature automatically. By anticipating changes in outdoor climate or solar radiation, it is designed to
maintain indoor comfort while reducing energy use. Direct integration is
available for selected heat pump manufacturers, while other brands can connect via an additional interface device across several European markets,
Heat pumps with natural refrigerant bring flexible modular design
Two new heat pumps using natural refrigerants have joined the line-up from AERMEC. Alongside the PRM air cooled reversible modular heat pump, Aermec has also launched the PRG reversible air/ water heat pump. Both units feature the
natural refrigerant R290 which offers an ultra-low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
Designed to meet the requirements
for commercial buildings and industrial applications, the PRM’s cooling capacity is 95.6kW with a heating capacity of 101.7kW. Hot water can be provided up to 75°C.
The modular design of the PRM
allows for up to nine units to be coupled together, reducing the overall unit dimensions to a minimum providing flexibility to the designer and future expansion/upgrade of the system.
including the UK. The modular design allows the system to manage multiple rooms or zones, and all functions can be controlled through the Smatrix Pulse 2 mobile app, available for iOS and Android devices. ▄

Modularity also provides the user with redundancy and reduced system downtime. Designed for industrial or commercial building applications the PRG reversible air/water heat pump offers a cooling capacity of 49.9kW to 146.9kW and a heating capacity of 51.7kW to a maximum of 144.3kW.
The design of the unit provides the designer with a wide operating range, from as low as -20°C outside air temperature in winter, up to 48°C in summer, with hot water being produced up to 75°C. ▄
