Upgrade delivers energy improvements CHILLER Low charge air-cooled ammonia chiller


The latest low charge air-cooled ammonia chiller from J&E HALL is designed to provide efficient cooling while minimising operating costs. It offers a range of cooling capacities, including cold storage (between -18°C and +15°C), process cooling (between -25°C and +7°C), and comfort cooling. The chiller features a straightforward mechanical design that facilitates servicing and maintenance. Key components are integrated into a user- friendly control panel, which includes a compact micro-controller, cloud-based monitoring, and a touchscreen interface. A refrigerant-cooled variable speed drive enhances efficiency. The condenser includes variable


speed-controlled fans to optimise operating conditions and reduce power

Raising the level of HIU performance


The Flow 8500 is the latest indirect heat interface unit (HIU) from BOSCH COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL. The new unit has been tested and registered under the BESA 2023 regime which has been introduced to help raise the bar for the performance of HIUs. The HIU delivers an improved domestic


hot water (DHW) response time and better volume weighted average return temperature (VWART). It also features new precision temperature sensors to ensure high performance, accurate control and network efficiency. Pete Mills, commercial & technical

With the launch of the new DX90-160 (RS) series, COMPAIR has extended its range of DX, oil-free rotary screw air compressors. They are said to offer up to 14% improvement in energy efficiency and up to 9% higher flow compared to industry standards. MANIFOLD More efficient heat management


The Flexbox is a new manifold unit developed by ESBE, a Swedish company specialising in hydronic solutions, aimed at improving heat management in residential and commercial heating systems.


Designed for use in


systems with two or three heating zones, the Flexbox offers installers increased efficiency and flexibility when integrating boilers, underfloor heating or renewable heating sources, such as heat pumps. The unit can be


surface-mounted or recessed into a wall, with options for blanking strips and cover strips to enhance aesthetics. The Flexbox is intended


for DN20 compatability and there are two incoming connection ports (left and right) on the supply side, with one


plugged to streamline installation. It also allows for both insulated and uninsulated circulation units to be installed, along with shut off valves. Key components include a 3-way rotary mixing valve that allows for manual adjustments or the addition of actuators for automated


control. The design prioritises easy access to components for adjustments during commissioning and future maintenance, potentially reducing the need for follow-up visits. A quick-fit connection facilitates rapid detachment and
