Claimed to be the largest of its kind in the UK, Naked Energy’s solar heat system at the British Library features 950 solar collectors over 712.5 m² of roof space. It is anticipated this system will reduce CO₂ emissions by 55 tonnes and generate 216 MWh of energy annually. The Virtu product range specified


for the project can convert sunlight into both heat and electricity, and in this scenario will provide the library with sanitary hot water and space heating. In a rare application of solar technology, the collectors will also be used to help maintain the precise temperature and humidity conditions needed to preserve the national collection cared for by the British Library.
