ENERGY MANAGEMENT Control it all with a single platform
The InSite energy management system developed by ABB now integrates with Samsung’s SmartThings and SmartThings Pro platforms, enhancing energy management capabilities in residential and light commercial buildings. This integration enables users to monitor, control and optimise energy consumption through smart appliances and devices, such as dishwashers and air conditioning units, utilising real-time and historical data collected by the InSite system. Consolidating home automation, IoT
devices, entertainment, EV charging, smart appliances, energy, gas and water consumption is said to reduce 'app overwhelm' and enables users to conveniently manage essential functions through a single user interface. SmartThings Pro further enhances these capabilities by offering advanced
WATER TREATMENT Demineralised water solution
Water quality expert SPIROTECH has expanded its range of solutions with the introduction of SpiroPure for demineralised water in heating systems. SpiroPure conditions the water of heating or cooling systems, removing unwanted substances such as calcium and magnesium ions as well as salts. This is achieved thanks to the resin beads, found at the heart of the SpiroPure solution. These resins comprise positively and
negatively charged beads, which attract the unwanted positive and negative ions in the water, and exchange them with useful and safe ions. The resin beads will change colour over time as they become depleted and replacement resin beads are required. By conditioning the water and
removing these unwanted salts and minerals, the conductivity of the water decreases while the pH value is increased, helping to maintain system health, prevent corrosion and keep the system running at its most efficient. SpiroPure is available for both domestic and commercial systems. The

Home series for residential properties consists of the Home Fill Basic, Home Fill Basic +, Home Fill XL, Home Fill XL + and Home Fill Duplex + for larger homes, all of which are fixed filling solutions. The Plus (+) units feature a combination valve, which make them Fluid Category 4 compliant, and also incorporate a pressure reducing valve. Meanwhile, the Pro series for
commercial and light-commercial buildings is available in 9.5L and 23L
sizes, in both fixed and mobile filling. ■

VENTILATION Tracking air quality in social housing
Designed specifically for use in social housing, the Lo-Carbon Revive 7 with Switchee connectivity is a new ventilation solution from VENT-AXIA that aims to improve indoor air quality by integrating Vent-Axia’s ventilation technology with Switchee’s smart controls. Together they ensure that heating and ventilation systems work together effectively to create healthier living environments for residents. The Lo-Carbon Revive 7 is an
energy-efficient, filter-less unitary fan that operates quietly and meets updated Building Regulations. It is designed to address issues such as condensation, damp and mould. The unit features an inbuilt data monitoring system, but the integration with
Switchee provides additional real-time data and insights through a user-friendly dashboard. This allows social housing providers to access fan performance data remotely, enabling proactive management of residents’ homes. “The popular Revive 7 already
provides landlords with energy efficient ventilation that effectively tackles condensation, damp and mould,” says Joseph Brawn, product and marketing director at Vent-Axia. “This collaboration with Switchee will enhance our capabilities by enabling customers to track humidity trends across property portfolios and optimise energy use, which will reduce energy bills and lower
carbon footprints.” ■

energy analytics, predictive insights, and automated optimisation for businesses, property managers, and energy-conscious homeowners seeking deeper control over their energy ecosystem. This professional- grade platform provides seamless integration with industrial-grade IoT devices, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to energy efficiency and sustainability. Mike Mustapha, president of
ABB’s Smart Buildings division, says: “Integrating our state-of-the-art energy management system with Samsung’s SmartThings and SmartThings Pro platforms highlights the power of collaboration in helping our customers outperform in an increasingly
connected world.” ■

TROX has launched a new air terminal concept which makes selection and installation easier, whilst offering a wide choice of ventilation grille fascia designs. The TROX X-GRILLE-Modular is suitable for supply or extract air in a wide range of applications, from spaces requiring stringent comfort conditions to large open-plan industrial areas. The new ventilation grille has a number of advantages over standard models with reduced pressure losses improving the energy efficiency of an overall system design, and new fixing variants to simplify assembly. Also, with an easy-to-use product selection option on TROX’s X-GRILLE Intuitive 3D Online Configurator, the customer can specify exactly the right model for the application out of over 3,000 variants, with datasets available for BIM-based project processing.
The grilles are configurable at
selection stage, based on a range of technical criteria to ensure the exact fixed flow air distribution characteristics for the air terminal device with directed supply air discharge. Customers can choose from fixed or adjustable blades, and sheet fronts with different round hole or square lattice perforation grid
designs. ■
