A newly constructed extension at Sciennes Primary School in Edinburgh has achieved Passivhaus certifi cation, making it the city's fi rst school built with cross-laminated timber. This £3.2 million project features four classrooms designed for energy effi ciency and a minimal carbon footprint. The extension has garnered three industry awards, recognising its innovative approach to sustainable learning environments. Completed in August 2023, it showcases the collaboration between architects Holmes Miller and sustainability consultants Sussed Sustainability.
