CHILLBLAST PHANTOM 15” GAMING LAPTOP

I’ve always been a gamer, but lockdown really re-ignited my passion for it after a few years of other distractions getting in the way (marriage and two children). I spend a fair amount of time away from home, and in the evenings, I now find it far more sociable and enjoyable to play a few rounds of GTA or Escape from Tarkov with my friends instead of mindlessly staring at my phone or watching Netflix. With an RTX 3070 graphics card, Core i7 CPU and all-SSD storage, my laptop delivers a true desktop experience in a much more convenient footprint.

MONITOR – 49” SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G9 NEO

I’ve been a multi-monitor advocate for at least a decade and had previously been using a triple-screen setup for work. If you are still struggling along with a single screen, it’s probably the quickest and easiest upgrade you can buy for boosting productivity. However, triple screen setups are not ideal for gaming. Even if you have three identical panels, you are still left with ugly seams between them. With my Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo I get the real-estate of a triple screen setup, but it also delivers an epic gaming experience with a 240Hz refresh rate, a 5120x1440 resolution and 1ms response time. Yes at 49” it is offensively large, but I absolutely love it.

TESLA MODEL 3

There’s an old truism that states “you can’t be a true petrolhead until you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo”. Over my many years of driving irresponsibly, I have owned a total of five Alfas plus many other antisocial and unreliable cars, but I am ashamed to admit that I’m now a fully paid-up member of the electric vehicle fan club. The Tesla Model 3 is easily the most comfortable, quiet, and civilised mode of transport I have ever owned, and I never fail to be impressed by its ability to get me from home in Surrey all the way up to Tactus Group HQ in Warrington on a single charge. The fact it also blasts you from 0-60 in a shade under three seconds is just icing on the cake.

CUSTOM CHILLBLAST GAMING PC

Lockdown taught me two important lessons. First, I could no longer be relied upon to beat kids under 10 years old in a competitive gaming environment, and secondly, my old desktop was no longer up to the job of gaming on my shiny new 49” monitor. Fortunately, at least one of those issues was easily addressable, so I upgraded my system to something much better. With an AMD Ryzen 9 16-core processor, 64GB of memory, a massive SSD and an RTX 3090 GPU I “re-invested” several holiday’s worth of funds into my gaming PC. I still can’t beat 9-year-olds at COD.
