GAME REPUBLIC NEW IRL Real Life Events from the industry

HORIZONS October 16 - Middlesbrough https://gamerepublic.net/

Over 250 attendees from more than 150 companies attended Game Republic New Horizons on October 16 at Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough. The event, supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority, is a new annual flagship games industry event in the north, and began with a BAFTA-supported fireside chat with MachineGames’ Axel Torvenius, the creative director of the worldwide smash hit Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Game Republic New Horizons also featured panels on funding, international markets, transmedia and leadership, featuring speakers including Lasse Seppänen (Supercell), Kimberley Turner (Double Eleven), Harvey Hayman (Hat Trick) and Emma Torrens (VOBJ Agency), talks on tech from Autodesk, Xbox and Reflex Arc, plus a MeetToMatch area, an expo with new games, a pitchside meet-and-greet with MFC mascot Roary the Lion to raise money for SpecialEffect and a LoFi Zone, talk and raffle by Safe In Our World.

The conference ended with a packed session where comedian and Taskmaster contestant Maisie Adam was interviewed by Chris Dring, Editor-in-Chief of The Game Business, and an After Party with dodgems, go-karting, golf and videogames. A special VIP Reception was held on the eve of the event at the multi award-winning HQ of Double Eleven.

Plans are already in place for GR New Horizons’ return in 2026 and 2027!
