Emulsifier and stabiliser specialist Palsgaard has appointed Miguel Hidalgo as its new CEO in Brazil as it targets further success in the country. Hidalgo, who starts the role on October 1, has 30 years’ experience at Palsgaard and has served as chairman of the company’s Brazilian operation since 2018. His previous roles also include CEO of Palsgaard Mexico and Regional Director of the Americas. He takes on the position as Palsgaard


aims to become the leading supplier of emulsifiers and specialty ingredients for


the food industry in Brazil. With a primary focus on emulsifier and


stabiliser solutions for cakes, chocolates, and lipids, the business is preparing for a new phase of growth under Hidalgo’s leadership. Hidalgo

Fedima appoints Wouter Lox as new Secretary General


The Federation of European Manufacturers and Suppliers of Ingredients to the Bakery, Confectionery and Patisseries Industries (FEDIMA) has appointed Wouter Lox as its new Secretary General. He assumed the role in September. “I look forward to working with FEDIMA’s members to promote innovation, sustainability, and food safety. The bakery, confectionery, and patisserie industries are at the heart of Europe’s food culture, and together we will ensure their continued growth and recognition at EU level.” Thomas Lesaffre, President of FEDIMA,


said: “We are thrilled to welcome Wouter Lox as Secretary General. His deep knowledge of European food policy and his proven leadership across sectors will strengthen FEDIMA’s voice in Brussels and help us defend the interests of nearly 27,000 employees in the bakery ingredients industry across Europe.”


Bako appoints Bernard McAuley as MD to drive UK and Ireland expansion


Ingredients supplier Bako has named Bernard McAuley as its new managing director as the company looks to expand across the UK and Ireland bakery and foodservice markets. Bako Group Ltd provides a wide


range of ingredients, finished goods, and ancillary products to bakers and foodservice operators. McAuley joins from Pilgrim’s (JBS),


where he led operations for the company’s Irish business following its acquisition of Kerry Foods in 2021. He began his career at Michelin, spending a decade in engineering and production roles before moving into the food sector with Kerry Group in 2016. On his appointment, McAuley


said: “Bako, also known as Finlay’s Food, combines manufacturing and wholesale in a way that sets


us apart in the sector. This model allows us to deliver greater value to customers, from artisan bakeries to large-scale food producers. I look forward to applying best practices from my previous roles to support quality, service, and growth across the business.” He added: “Bako Group Ltd has


achieved remarkable success in Great Britain. My goal is to build on that momentum, drive growth in Ireland, and strengthen partnerships across the wider group.” Bako CEO Mike Tully said:
