Biscoff updates iconic biscuit engraving
Biscoff® has updated the engraving on its iconic 1 Piece caramelised biscuit, replacing ‘Lotus’ with ‘Biscoff’ to strengthen brand recognition and align with its recent rebrand. The new engraving uses the familiar Biscoff font, matching
on-pack visuals and helping customers identify the biscuit when served alongside hot drinks or used in bakery products such as brownies, cookies and cakes. Jo Agnew, Marketing Director at Biscoff® UK, said: “We are thrilled to share our updated biscuit engraving with operators, helping them capitalise on the growing popularity of the Biscoff® brand.” She added: “The signature biscuit shape and embossed lines

Datekin wins Great Taste 2026 accolade
UK date-snacking brand Datekin has received a one-star Great Taste 2026 accolade for its Date Filled Whole Wheat & Bran Cakes, marking its first recognition from the awards scheme. Judges praised
the cakes’ “clean and fruity flavour” and “wonderfully tender texture”, adding that they were “not overly sweet” and would be well suited to coffee or as an after-dinner treat. Launched in spring 2025,
Datekin’s cakes are now stocked in more than 150 independent coffee shops and retail stores across the UK, with a 30g format developed for grab-and-go occasions. Meg Matthews, Head
of Marketing at Datekin, said: “Since launching just over a year ago, we have always known we were onto something good, but
that 87% of consumers say a biscuit alongside their beverage encourages them to return, while 74% would pay more for such an accompaniment. A further 67% said it had to be Biscoff.
British Bakels reveals sweet bakery flavours to watch for autumn/winter 2026
British Bakels has identified its top 10 sweet bakery flavours for autumn/winter 2026, with salted caramel, cherry and caramelised biscuit leading the list. Pistachio, banana,
having it recognised by a panel of this calibre has only deepened our belief in what we’re building.” She added: “The Date
Cakes are one of our most popular products and are the one you hand to someone who has never thought of a date as a treat – so for the judges to find them tender and not overly sweet is exactly what we set out to do.” Datekin’s
range also
includes single-ingredient dates and Date Balls made with two to three ingredients.
tiramisu, salted maple, brown butter, pumpkin spice and matcha complete the top 10, highlighting continued interest in familiar flavours with contemporary twists. Dan Jones, Marketing Manager at British Bakels, said: “Familiarity is a powerful driver in sweet bakery, but familiar doesn’t have to mean predictable. What we’re seeing for autumn and winter is established flavours being given new relevance through different pairings, formats and finishes.” Consumer research found that approval for salted caramel increased from 31% in the first half of 2026 to
49% for the second half, while 38% of consumers said they look for cherry flavours in sweet bakery and 39% for spiced biscuit. Jones added: “Flavour
trends don’t start and stop at the bakery counter. Looking at what is gaining momentum across food and drink gives us an indication of where consumer tastes are heading.”
