the various pre- and post-sales technical support activities we do during the year. T is customer-centric approach led to us providing the widest real time analysis bandwidth in the industry: 150MHz in RTSA on Field Master Pro; see Figure 8. It supports many common satellite frequency plans for full downlink visualisation or looking at the out-of-band spectrum on 100MHz 5G carriers, not just the in-band signal. Tracking generator and off set mode


(Figure 9) simplify mixer testing for satellite datalink operating from UHF- to mid C-Band up to 6GHz, widely used across the A&D ecosystem.


3. What should development and test engineers prepare for in order to meet the challenges and needs of the systems in the A&D sector now? The major design trend we see across the industry is that high-speed ADCs and DACs are moving ever closer to antennas in transceivers, thus enabling direct digital conversion and DSP processing of RF very early in Tx/Rx signal processing chains. Having signal sources with excellent spectral purity for testing Gigasample ADCs is almost a must in the A&D industry today. Another trend is visible in the signal


analysis realm. In this case, many defence forces are seeking innovative ways for real-time remote spectrum monitoring, and want to be sure to detect any unintended signals, even the low-power ones that can be maliciously hidden into common high-power regular communications such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, etc. Here, the best is having a modular signal analyzer that can be used as handheld or rackmount, and equipped with the largest available RTSA bandwidth. Anritsu’s MS2090A Field Master Pro and MS27201 Remote Spectrum Monitor cover analysis bandwidth to 54GHz with 150MHz. It is much easier and faster to stitch together multiple 150MHz acquisitions for sweeping the entire UHF, IMS or even K-band and spot a malicious transmission in few seconds. T en we come to learning. Fast-


developing test and measurement techniques are even more needed today, placing engineers under even greater pressure than ever before. T e A&D industry is a world with tight schedules, and we know that the time available for self-training is so short, that partnering with someone ready and able to support this eff ort can be a great enabler. Anritsu has achieved the gold standard in certifi cation training for the wireless industry, and we are eager to replicate this success story across the A&D ecosystem, too. By talking with our customers, we


understand that most of the wasted time is linked to lack of post-sales support. T is is even more true in A&D, where RF and microwave instruments are integrated into complex automatic test equipment. So, the expected life of these solutions is extremely long – over 10 years of service. Other activities we see extremely

interesting are the so-called “Tech Days”, where our experts deliver on-site seminars and/or webinars dedicated to all the major A&D topics. We had Radar Tech Days recently, as well as both remote and on-site seminars showing all the new capabilities of our handheld VNAs and spectrum analyzers, with real use cases. Another recurring event is the Regulator Tech Day that takes place every year.
