The market for ‘swarm intelligence’ will hit $450m by 2033
By
Fact.MR market analysts T
he global swarm intelligence market is estimated to reach $450m by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 40.5% from 2023 to 2033, according to a new industry analysis by
Fact.MR, a market research provider. Swarm intelligence is a subset of artifi cial
intelligence (AI), inspired by the behaviour of insects such as wasps, bees and ants. T e technology is based on the concept that several individuals work toward accomplishing a common objective that can enhance decisions and assist in predicting occurrences. Swarm intelligence is commonly used in drones and robotics,
where many sensors like sonar, radar and cameras collect data and information locally. To date the concept has been used mostly in the military and defence fi elds, but now there’s increased interest from other market sectors such as surveillance and environmental monitoring, disaster relief and industrial. T is interest is further propelling its market growth and that of new related concepts and strategies for effi cient solutions to data-handling challenges.
Market growth T is year the global swarm intelligence market stands at $15m, with North America holding a 45.2% share. Key market players are actively pursuing partnerships, acquisitions, investments, technological innovations and R&D activities to strengthen and widen their footprint. T e market has witnessed several

new developments in recent years. Moreover, many startups are exploring ways to integrate swarm intelligence for new applications. For example: • Italian startup Cubbit is developing a distributed system for cloud storage. To achieve speed and anonymity, its solution uses swarm intelligence, with each Cubbit cell operating as a node in the swarm. Cubbit’s peer-to-peer (P2P) cell network off ers extremely secure, sustainable and collaborative cloud storage. Furthermore, compared to conventional data centres, the cost of maintaining these systems is substantially lower.
• Brainalyzed is a German startup that provides an enterprise AI platform for swarm intelligence. T e system allows fi ntech users to predict market fl uctuations and scale profi ts. To enhance decision making, the startup’s technology combines swarm intelligence with data analytics, which allows it to detect anomalies, useful in many industries, including the energy, manufacturing and telecommunications sectors.
Fact.MR provides a further study on swarm intelligence,
segmenting the market analysis based on capability (optimisation, clustering, scheduling, routing), application (robotics, drones, human swarming) and end user (transportation and logistics, robotics and automation, healthcare, retail and e-commerce, and others), across fi ve major regions (North America, Europe, Asia Pacifi c, Latin America and the Middle East and Africa).
