After strong industry interaction during an unprecedented 18 months, it is now time to decide who will be the winners at the Electronics Industry Awards 2021. The event is designed to reward the outstanding people, products and business practices seen within the electronics sector. Having received a fl ood of entries and nominations, it is time for the power to be handed back to the industry to help decide who will win an award at this year’s awards ceremony, taking place at the Tower Hotel in London on Thursday 21 October 2021.

he entries and nominations are in, and what a varied and innovative collection of products, businesses and individuals they are. This year,
we have had more entries than ever before and are thrilled to see new and emerging technologies being included in the list, as well as industry giants showcasing their incredible solutions for a wide range of industry applications. Every sector of the component industry is represented in our awards scheme, a true refl ection of the innovation and development constantly produced by the electronics market.

CATEGORIES There are three different types of awards up for grabs – Product, Business and Individual awards. The Product awards are Aerospace/Military/Defence Product of the Year, Automotive Product of the Year, Display Product of the Year, Enclosure Product of the Year, Embedded Solution Product of the Year, Engineering Development/Design Tool of the Year, Interconnection Product of the Year, Internet of Things Product of the Year, Test, Measurement & Inspection Product of the Year, and Power Product of the Year. The Business categories are Academic
Support Award, Best Customer Service, Distributor of the Year, Electronics Manufacturer of the Year, Environmental Leadership Award, Excellence in Innovation and Most Outstanding PR Agency. Our fi nal award is the Industry Personality
Award. This special award is designed to recognise an individual that plays a signifi cant part in the success of the electronics industry.
The winner of this category will have made continuous contributions to the sector, boosted their company’s profi le and worked closely with their customers and suppliers.
EXPERT JUDGING PANEL Following on from the success of previous judging panels, we have decided to include contributory scores from an extended group of industry insiders to help decide the Product and Individual awards. Their results will combine with the online industry vote but the Business awards choice remain solely in the hands of the public.

Returning to the fold for the 2021 awards is Adam Fletcher, who is chairman of the Electronic Components Supply Network (ecsn), the business association established in 1970 that offers support to all organisations with an interest in electronic components throughout their entire lifecycle. He is also chairman of the International Distribution of Electronics Association (IDEA), and CIE’s most valued commentator, writing monthly insights on the trends shaping our industry. You can read his latest contribution on page 10 of every issue of CIE. We’re hugely excited and grateful to announce that ITSA (Interconnect Technology Suppliers Association) chairman and industry heavyweight John Biggs has offered his expertise to help decide the winners for a second time. Biggs has extensive experience and is well equipped to make informed choices.

We are also delighted to introduce new members to the Electronics Industry Awards judging panel. Electronics veteran and editor of Electronics magazine, Michelle Winny, is lending her technical eye to the task of choosing the 2020 winners. Her knowledge will be invaluable to the process and we’re thrilled to include her opinion on the latest electronic products and solutions. Tracy Annandale has been working in the electronics communications sphere for over a decade, now runs her own PR company specialising in this industry, and her experience and in-depth knowledge will be an incredible asset to this year’s panel, we’re thrilled to have her on board. Our fi nal judge, Sven Brehler, is an accomplished application engineering manager with extensive global experience and an excellent track record of successfully developing, managing and growing evolutionary projects in a wide range of industries and markets.
