Specially engineered Hyster® refresh operations at Heineken


Six new Hyster® electric lift trucks which feature special engineering to meet the demands of brewery operations have been provided to the Heineken Ireland site in Cork. Heineken Ireland is a wholly owned subsidiary of


Heineken International, whose portfolio of brands includes Heineken, the best-selling beer in Ireland, Murphy’s, Amstel and Coors Light. Its site in Cork, founded in 1856, employs 458 people and ships 2 million kegs per year to pubs, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and wholesalers. As such, the brewery’s yard operations are intense, loading and unloading on average 20 lorries each day. “Empty kegs arrive every day and have to be unloaded and placed on a conveyor to take them to the


production area,” explains Matt Hardy, Industry Manager for Hyster Europe. “At the same time, full kegs are collected and stacked in the storage area ready for despatch.”

End of year flourish for Hart


Orders for a range of door types from a broad spectrum of industrial categories have ended 2019 with a flourish for Hart Door Systems. Working for a chemical processing company Hart received


an order for a further five Speedor Storms following the earlier installation of one Speedor Storm. For a construction company Hart delivered 12 pedestrian doors, eight Speedor Minis, two Speedor Storms, one insulated roller shutter and one electrically operated roller shutter and for a major car manufacturer Hart delivered a further Speedor Cleanroom for a test booth in its trim and chassis facility. Finally for a major port, Hart delivered six ATEX-rated


Speedor Supers and two electrically operated roller shutters. “This sample of recent orders demonstrates the breadth of door types we can supply,” said a Hart


spokesperson. “Despite some macro economy concerns Hart continues to supply its customer base with doors that deliver, sometimes in very testing environments.”

WMS helps drive warehouse automation


Hand and power tool distributor, Draper Tools, is using a Red Ledge warehouse management system (WMS) to drive ongoing automation of its warehousing and logistics operation. Founded in 1919, Draper Tools services up to 5000 UK and


overseas customers. A Red Ledge WMS is integrated with the company’s IBM ERP and Knapp automated picking systems and updates inventory in real time. Other WMS-driven functions include a volumetric packing optimiser and automated labelling. Many of Draper Tools’ 125 staff in its two-site Eastleigh, Hants, operation now use mobile scanners driven by the WMS. Red Ledge WMS is also being used to generate management


reports on the performance of individuals, teams and warehouse processes. Commenting on the impact of the system, Draper Tools head
