TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL
Inductive sensors take a leap forward The affordable route to Industry 4.0
N
ow inductive sensors are becoming interesting again and opening up new frontiers. Market leader ifm electronic has equipped a range of
inductive sensors with IO-Link, thereby giving the users access to data that couldn’t economically be used before, even if it had been available. An IO-Link system can monitor the health and the status of a system: IO-Link turns sensor data into a digital data stream, analogue inputs are not required. By using what is still effectively high-resolution and linear analogue information, the user can now determine much more, such as the relative position of the sensor and its target. Maintenance planning can now include tightening up loose flags before they drop off and cause a standstill. IO-Link can be used in the other direction to tell the device to act normally open or closed, or switch positive or negative, even to select and activate a time delay in the device.

o you use inert gas blanketing within your manufacturing process? Inert gas blanketing is a process used to protect volatile, combustible or perishable products from undesirable The Rapidox 1100 and Rapidox 2100 zirconia oxygen gas analysers can
measure oxygen content at the lowest level in parts per million, ensuring that the inert environment is as pure as possible.
There are many benefits in inert gas blanketing such as: • Decreases risk of oxidisation • Assists in chemical storage • Protects perishable products • Enhances safety • Reduces contamination • Maintains inert environment • Used in many applications

Kontron KBox C-102-4: High Performance and Maintenance-Free Design K
ontron introduces a new member of its high-end industrial computer platforms for control cabinet environments – the Kontron KBox C-102-4. The new model allows the
integration of up to four PCI(e) expansions slots and is thus ideally suited for users requiring a large number of additional interfaces, industrial I/Os, or fieldbuses. The KBox C-102 series is now available in four alternative design variants: the compact
KBox C-102-0 without additional expansion slots, the KBox C-102-1 and KBox C-102-2 with one or two PCI(e) expansion slots respectively, and the new KBox C-102-4 with four PCI(e) expansion slots. The industrial computers are used mainly for control, visualization, and inspection in the production
process. All systems in the KBOX C-102 series are equipped with high- performance 6th generation Intel® Core™ i3/i5/i7 processors or Intel® Xeon® E3 1500 v5 series CPUs for even more demanding performance requirements. Due to their maintenance-free system design without either fans or batteries they offer a significantly prolonged lifespan and high system availability.
Their modular structure based on the standardized COM Express® technology results in highly flexible, scaleable systems. Automation vendors and OEM customers in machine and plant engineering further profit from efficient and extremly flexible customization options, allowing for quick customer-specific adjustments without design risks or additional development costs. As part of the Kontron Security Solution series, the KBox C-102 family supports Kontron's
Security Solution APPROTECT. In tandem with a specifically developed software framework it provides full IP and copy/reverse engineering protection through its integrated WIBU- Systems security chip. Kontron APPROTECT Licensing also enables new business models such as ‘pay per use’, time based trial versions, or enable/disable features. Additionally, the Kontron KBox C-102 series supports Kontron WideLink, a technology that implements data communication between a remote visualization unit and control computer through a standard CAT6a Ethernet cable at up to 100 meters distance from the control computer. This enables efficient and ergonomic visualization solutions in especially complex and expansive production facilities.
