INTRODUCTION & CONTENTS
Welcome to the launch of the Electronics Industry Awards
T
his year marks the launch of the Electronics Industry Awards which has been organised by Datateam Business Media and launched in association with CIE Magazine and with the full support of Electronics Magazine, ECSN and What’s New In Electronics. Taking place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on 25th September 2018, the awards are designed to recognise the many successes in the electronics industry, celebrating outstanding companies, people and products with winners decided entirely by an industry vote. We have had a great response to the launch of this event with a huge number of exciting products being entered along with great companies and individuals being nominated for awards recognising the incredible work they do for the industry. Awards are split into three sections to cater to different markets with the aim to include as many people as possible. These are: Business Awards, Product Awards and the Special Award. The Business Awards recognise those who go above and beyond within their sector and companies that should be recognised for what they bring to the market. These categories include: ‘Distributor of the Year’, ‘Electronics Manufacturer of the Year’, ‘Excellence in Innovation’, ‘Environmental Leadership’, ‘Best Customer Service’, ‘Academic Support’, and ‘Most Outstanding PR Agency’. The Product Awards celebrate the excellence of a range of products from
different markets within the electronics industry. This section recognises the best products within aerospace/military/defence, automotive, displays, enclosures, engineering development/design tools, interconnection, Internet of Things, power, test, measurement & inspection, and embedded solution.
The Special Award, Industry Personality, recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to the industry, raising the profile of the industry, improving the supply chain, boosting their company and working closely with their customers and suppliers. The Electronics Industry Awards also has the backing of sponsors Astute (headline), BWW Communications, Mouser, Intelliconnect and Napier. Analog Devices is our charity sponsor for this year’s event. Jackie Rutter,
director of marketing EMEA at Analog Devices says: “As the charity fundraiser sponsor of the Electronics Industry Awards 2018, Analog Devices is delighted that all monies raised during the award evening will be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH). “Birmingham Children’s Hospital offers expert care to 90,000 children and young people from across the country every year. As a local resident and parent who has first-hand experience of the life-saving work undertaken by BCH, it’s great to support such a worthwhile local cause.” We are also delighted to have comedian Sean Collins as our compere for the evening to present the awards to our worthy winners. After appearing on shows such as Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, we are looking forward to seeing him bring the ceremony to life in a way only he can. Lastly, I would like to congratulate all of our finalists for making it through to the final stage, and wish them the best of luck at the ceremony!
