Red Gorilla® is one of many businesses to come out and openly endorse Simpler Recycling, and to support the idea that more thorough capture of recycling materials at source, is good for reducing landfills and minimising the wider environmental impact. What are businesses required to do? All businesses and relevant non-domestic
premises (such as schools, hospitals and care homes etc), with 10 or more full-time employees, will have to sort their recyclable waste from their residual waste.
The new legislation requires businesses to divide their waste into: • residual (non-recyclable) waste • food waste (mixed with garden waste, as appropriate) • paper and card • all other dry recyclable materials (such as plastics, metals and glass)
If you haven’t done so already, businesses are encouraged to speak with their waste collector to establish any changes that the introduction of Simpler Recycling will have to their current waste collection arrangement.
