Moving forward together
It seems summer has finally arrived in the UK and we have the chance to enjoy some welcome warmer weather and sunshine. After a disappointing start to the season, which impacted the gardening category the most, let’s hope a sustained period of good weather will help lift everyone’s spirits and increase sales.
Something else we’ve all enjoyed this year is an amazing summer of sport. The
Euro’s football final may not have gone England’s way, but the matches provided great entertainment. Plus, we’ve had the Wimbledon tennis championships, F1 motor racing, cricket and the Olympic Games to enjoy so far in 2024. All these fantastic events have not
only provided great spectacles and stirred the emotions, but also celebrated and rewarded the dedication and hard work of all those competing as they push the limits of human endurance. It’s important to have healthy competition in all walks of life, including business, as this is what pushes us to innovate, improve and ultimately succeed in whatever tasks we undertake. Earlier this year we held our own industry competition in the form of the DIY Week Awards, and in this issue’s Special Supplement we give credit to all those who entered whilst highlighting the winners and celebrating their achievements and success. The Awards always provide a great way to bring the industry together in a spirit of cooperation and unity and we
are launching a new event called DIY Week Live that aims to build on this and introduce leading buyers and sellers. Taking place next October at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, you can find out more about this exciting new development on page 16 of this issue and we’ll bring you further updates in the coming months.
