Rewarding innovation
It’s been a busy few weeks in the DIY Week office as we prepare for this year’s DIY Week Awards. Sadly, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we haven’t been able to hold any in-person judging events this year, but we have instead conducted all the judging via Zoom. This has worked surprisingly well and everyone on the judging panels has enjoyed the in-depth discussions, deliberations and examinations of the entries. The other thing that has really stood out for me is not only the quantity of entries, but also their quality. It never ceases to amaze me how many exciting and innovative new products and solutions are developed every year in our industry and this year is no different. The variety of entries, in both the retailer and supplier categories, has been really interesting to see and certainly given the judges plenty to think about and has made choosing the shortlists, not to mention the eventual winners, a very challenging task indeed. The fact that so many companies were interested in entering and taking part in this year’s awards, despite all the challenges their businesses have faced over the last twelve months, is great to see and testament to the strength of the DIY, home improvement and garden sector. So with the shortlists decided (see page 11), we are now gearing up to hold our first ever live-streamed online awards
ceremony on Thursday 15th July when the winners will be announced. Despite not being able to meet up in person, the online nature of the event will allow us to reach a much larger global audience all looking forward to celebrate with the winners in this incredible industry. Visit
www.diyweekawards.co.uk for more details, I look forward to seeing you there.
