RANGE REVIEW: FLOORING & FLOORCARE FOR 2018

Grey flooring With grey dubbed as ‘the new beige’, it has become an increasingly popular trend in flooring. This is expected to continue into 2018, with floors taking on a ‘bleached driftwood’ appearance. “We introduced grey plank just under two years ago and pack sales have trebled year on year since, said Nicoline’s Nicola Harris. “This shade offers an alternative to the natural ‘wood’ colours but, being a neutral shade, will blend in with most décor around the home and also offers a more modern feel to the traditional woods.”

Herringbone styles Herringbone is much more accessible than chevron, making it the more popular option. Longer herringbone patterns are reportedly going to be huge over the next year, especially amongst young homeowners.

ONES TO WATCH

 Terrazzo patterns are set to be big in interiors this year, from patterns on wallpaper and textiles, to flooring. Terrazzo is typically a mix of stone chips (traditionally marble) either embedded in concrete or encased in resin. As well as traditional terrazzo flooring proving popular this year, expect to see vinyl and linoleum flooring replicating the pattern.

 “Texture is a big trend this year with inspiration taken from the textile world,” says CTD Group’s Mike Dent. “Expect to see tiles featuring the woven effect of denim, carpet or vintage rugs as an innovative way of bringing comforting texture into the home.
