IF IT’S BROKE, FIX IT

alternative that merchants are increasingly turning to.

Repairing over replacing is an increasingly popular, more sustainable, option, that merchants can take advantage of. Will McGill investigates.

hen a tile starts to move or grout begins to crack, many homeowners - and even professionals - assume the

worst: the whole bathroom floor needs replacing. “As anyone who’s faced the prospect of tearing up tiles knows, it’s not just costly - it’s messy, disruptive, and wasteful,” says Floor-Fix Pro founder, Paul Lanzarotti. He adds that, before Floor-Fix Pro, the category of “Floor- Repair” didn’t exist. Now, the company’s range boasts over 12 different products that can fix almost any type of floor in seconds for a fraction of the cost, and most importantly, safely. Lanzarotti explains: “It’s easy to assume cracked grout is just the result of wear and tear. In reality, it’s often a symptom of a deeper issue: a void or broken bond beneath the tile. Over time, movement caused by footfall flexes the tile, eventually leading to cracked

grout lines and loosened tiles. Left untreated, water can seep into these cracks, damaging the subfloor and potentially requiring a full replacement.

“That’s where precision repair tools like the Floor-Fix Pro Injectafix range come in. Designed to tackle the root of the problem, Injectafix uses a self-levelling copolymer adhesive that can be injected beneath tiles via a tiny 2mm hole drilled in the grout. It fills any hidden cavities, bonding the tile back to the subfloor and preventing further movement. Resulting in an adhesive that dries twice as fast as other market options, providing a long- lasting fix without removing any tiles.”

Diagnosing the problem Before reaching for a trowel or hammer, it’s worth understanding how to spot the signs of trouble early. The first clues are often subtle and include: l A hollow sound when you walk across the floor l Grout that’s cracking or crumbling l A slight give or bounce underfoot

“In bathrooms, where moisture is a constant factor, even a minor issue can quickly escalate,” explains Lanzarotti.

“Traditional repairs often involve removing the flooring, re-preparing the subfloor, and re-tiling - an expensive and time-consuming process. But modern solutions like Injectafix offer a clean, non-invasive and highly targeted

Where much of the flooring industry has historically taken a replace-first attitude, a change in attitudes towards waste and sustainability has led to evolving habits. Alongside that change in attitudes, products like Floor-Fix Pro and the Injectafix range have provided a sustainable floor-fixing solution that can be used across a wide range of flooring surfaces. As well as the Injectafix range, Floor-Fix Pro has created a suite of targeted tools to help deliver quick fixes and keep waste to a minimum.

“One such product is Twist & Grout: as the name suggests, it’s a pre-mixed waterproof grout in three finishes designed to be used straight after adhesive injection,” he comments. “Alongside Injectafix, this one- two combination means tradespeople can fix, regrout, and finish a job in under an hour - no drying delays and no callbacks.

Repair over replace “Floor-Fix Pro’s patented products are used in more than 50 countries, rescuing countless tiled and wood floors from the brink of removal and disposal.”

The environmental benefits of choosing to repair instead of replace are significant. Construction accounts for around a third of the world’s overall waste and at least 40% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. Traditional floor repairs are a part of that problem, often generating significant waste. Lanzarotti adds: “By targeting repairs, Injectafix helps avoid sending tiles, adhesive, and underlay to landfill. Its anti-clog cartridge tip extends the lifespan of the adhesive tube, reducing the number of plastic cartridges discarded. Injectafix is more than just another product on the shelf - it’s a tool that delivers visible results. It’s about offering tools that are faster, cleaner, and better - for budgets, for reducing landfill waste and for the floors beneath our feet. “ BMJ
