PJH fleet investment boosts next-day deliveries to 70%
PJH GROUP, the bathroom, kitchen and appliance distributor, has made a substantial investment into its national network of transport fleet. The move aims to improve vehicle efficiencies and service levels as well as boost considerably the availability of the PJH Next-Day Delivery Service.
All vehicles have now been replaced with streamlined Euro 6 trucks that offer a much- improved MPG rate with associated efficiencies allowing PJH to realign its base and become more agile, in particular with regard to the Next- Day Delivery service to customers.
To do this PJH has created a new process of vehicle routing which adopts a more flexible planning process allowing for route optimisation that is more responsive to changes in customer
demand. This results in cost and environmental savings due to
efficient routing, meaning less miles travelled, less fuel consumed and CO2 savings. The new process has also extended PJH’s population coverage receiving daily deliveries from 17m to 47m.
John Nobrega, Head of Operations at PJH’S Cannock depot, commented: “With the new
vehicles and improved routing procedures now in place, we can enable more postal districts throughout the UK to take advantage of daily deliveries – with up to 70% of all postal regions now having a daily delivery service. “ The initial investment has seen the addition of 63 new
