Rockwall Youth FC scores Huws Gray win

TP & Saints boost grassroots rugby support

High Wycombe Rugby Club in Buckinghamshire and Woodbridge Rugby Club in Suffolk have both won £5,000 worth of materials - supplied by Travis Perkins - to give their clubhouses a much- needed makeover. The competition formed part of Northampton Saints’ long- standing relationship with the builders’ merchant, which has seen Travis Perkins sponsor the Gallagher PREM rugby side for the last 25 years.

Builders merchant Huws Gray has named Rocklands Youth Football Club as the winner of its inaugural Pitch in competition, awarding £5,000 worth of building materials to help transform the club’s facilities. Huws Gray launched Pitch in to support community hubs that face growing financial pressures and struggling with outdated or inadequate facilities.

Based in Norfolk, Rocklands Youth FC supports 10 teams from Under 7s through to Under 15s, including two female teams, and is run by 24 dedicated volunteers. The club plans to use the building materials donation to refurbish its clubhouse and bathroom facilities, ensuring it is inclusive and accessible for all players, volunteers, families and visitors.

In addition to the building materials, a junior team from both clubs was invited to the Northampton Saints’ High Performance Centre for a training session with first-team stars George Hendy and Craig Wright.

Claire Cole, Junior Chair at Woodbridge Rugby Club, said: “We cannot tell you how grateful we are to Travis Perkins for this support. “Over the last three years, we have launched and developed our girls’ section but we really need to make changes to showers and changing rooms to ensure they get the same privacy as the boys. “Wanting to do this and being able to are completely different things and the support from Travis Perkins is going to enable us to do this.”
