AND FINALLY
Draper Tools Advent Calendar raises £3,000 for NHS Charities Together
Leading tool firm, Draper Tools, launched its 2020 tool advent calendar earlier this year, featuring 24 doors of tools to open in the countdown to Christmas. With Christmas being the season of goodwill, the company has been donating £1 from the sale of every calendar to NHS Charities Together in recognition of hardworking NHS staff everywhere. The calendar has been so popular that Draper Tools was able to donate £3,000 to the charity.
The limited-edition calendar
sold out in a matter of weeks, Kev Smith- head of marketing at Draper Tools commented: “It’s been such a challenging year for everyone, especially the NHS and we were keen to give something back to show our support. Throughout the year Draper staff have been out on their doorsteps clapping and we all got behind Captain Tom Moore and his amazing achievements for the NHS too.” “When the time came to launch our advent calendar, we all felt it made sense to donate
mental health charities The Builders Merchants Federation raised £5,000 for charity by encouraging members to don their best festive jumpers and join them for a virtual Christmas party last month. The funds raised will be shared equally between Mental Health UK and the Samaritans, the two charities the BMF has supported throughout the year. BMF CEO John Newcomb said: “I would like to thank everyone who made a donation to support our Christmas Charity Event. The charities we are supporting help to make sure that no-one has to face mental health challenges alone. The impact of Covid-19 has seen demand for the services of these charities increase significantly and

And it seems our customers felt the same way too – we’ve been so happy to see the reaction to this year’s calendar and how it’s been helping people countdown to Christmas. CombiKids children’s book now published
An exciting new children’s book has been launched just in time for Christmas. Collaboration between forklift manufacturer Combilift and award-winning Irish author Emer Conlon has resulted in “The Forklifts and their Secret Superpowers”, which depicts the main Combilift products as cartoon characters. Innovation has been a hallmark of Combilift and this has now been extended to capture children’s imaginations.
The combination of a children’s book and one of the largest indigenous companies in Ireland may not seem a likely fit, but according to Emer this is a novel way to communicate with

existing and potential customers, as well as being involved in the education of the next generation. “I also wanted to use it as a marketing tool for the adults and so I used the USPs of the actual forklifts and turned them into the superpowers of the characters. That way both adults and children would get something from the book. “Martin McVicar, Combilift MD, really liked the idea – especially the educational aspect for children and as a result, CombiKids was created.”
create community nativity scene Community boost from Selco Selco Builders Warehouse opened its 140,000 sq ft site on Cater Road in Bishopsworth on Monday, ending a 25 year stay at its branch in Bedmin- ster. To mark the opening, Selco has made a £1,000 donation to Young Bristol, as well as pledging a further £2,000 to its nominated charity Global’s Make Some Noise to support small charities it works with in Bristol. Mark Jones, branch manager, said: “We are extremely excited to have opened in Bishopsworth, not least because it is the biggest of our 69 Selco branches in the UK.
“Due to the many restrictions placed on indoor worship, and because our outdoor Nativity scene was sadly subjected to an arson attack in 2015, we all felt a strong need to create something outside where people could come and go freely whenever they wanted.”
