Wolseley opens second Renewables Centre
Wolseley Group has announced the opening of its second Renewables Centre in Swansea. The new facility will help professionals meet the demand for low-carbon installations. located next to the Swansea Plumb Centre site, the facility was opened during a discovery day, where local installers were invited to meet experts and learn more about the training courses, installation support and design guidance available.
Dan Marsden, director of renewables at Wolseley Group, said: “We’re excited to open our second Renewables Centre facility in Swansea today. Since launching
earlier this year, we’ve seen overwhelming enthusiasm from installers looking to enhance their skills and capitalise on the rapidly growing renewables market. “The Government is making significant investments into the low-carbon sector and we want to help installers play their role by providing the training, skills and confidence needed to succeed.” The new opening is the second of several planned locations across the UK.
Lawsons purchases two new London sites
Builders merchant group Lawsons has purchased two freehold sites in Edgware and Romford, expanding the company’s footprint to support an expanded product range.
The timber, materials and fencing merchant has thirty five branches trading under seven brands, with over 700 staff and a dedicated steel fabrication plant.
Elliotts Builders Merchants buys New Forest Hire
Independent Hampshire-based merchant Elliotts, has announced the acquisition of New Forest Hire. The Totton-based tool and plant hire company will retain its current trading name and people, with day-to-day operations remaining unchanged.
They join Elliotts portfolio alongside; Elliotts Builder’s Merchants, Elliotts Living Spaces, Elliotts Premier Roofing and the recently acquired Futuremost Group.
Stuart Long, owner of New Forest Hire for the last 10 years said, “I am proud of what we have achieved at New Forest Hire, and I am sure the business will go from strength to strength whilst retaining the high level of service that our customers are used to.”
Chris Harrison, group finance director, said “Our purchases of sites in Edgware and Romford continue the long-standing commitment we have to operate with certainty and security of tenure to our business which started with the original purchase of our Whetstone branch. “We have purchased these assets from our strong net cash
position and although the market trading conditions of the past twelve months have proven difficult for some participants, the quality of our people and the underlying strength of our Group’s balance sheet here at Lawsons mean that we have had a financial year of revenue growth, profitability and net cash improvement.”
Bradfords Building Supplies opens Devon Hire Depot
On July 7, Bradfords Building Supplies announced the opening of its first ever standalone Tool and Plant Hire depot in Newton Abbot, Devon.
To celebrate the opening, the depot hosted a range of events including supplier days, a raffle and showcases for a range of technology throughout the opening week.
