Clothing designed with built-in sun protection is increasingly recognised as the most reliable way to shield skin. A garment’s UPF rating works like SPF for sunscreen – the higher the number, the better the protection. But unlike sunscreen, UPF-rated clothing doesn’t rely on reapplication, offering consistent coverage all day.
“With this update, we’ve maintained all the critical safety and performance attributes
of our original LIFE Collection polo while significantly enhancing its environmental credentials,” said Hannah Sargent, Product Development Manager at PULSAR. “It’s a small change with a big impact, demonstrating our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and wearer comfort.”
There is more to heat protective clothing than UPF however. Workwear manufacturer Carhartt’s Force Series range for instance, is
designed to fight sweat, dry fast and keep labourers comfortable.
“As temperatures rise, so does the risk for tradespeople working outdoors. But the right workwear can make all the difference,” says Nick Poulson, country manager for Carhartt UK.
The Carhartt Force Series T-shirt for example has been updated with improved zoned mesh panels to maximise airflow, better stretch and redesigned seams that won’t irritate or distract, it’s the perfect base layer for long summer days.
The Men’s Relaxed Fit Midweight Short- Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt is made from flex jersey with mesh side panels for extra ventilation, FastDry sweat-wicking tech, anti-microbial properties and raglan sleeves which have extra under-arm width for added movementfor physical work in direct sun.
