WORKWEAR

SUPERTOUCH EXPANDS CARE FOR HANDS AND FEET

PPE and workwear specialist, Supertouch, has enhanced its ranges of protective footwear and high performance work gloves

T

he BCG50 and high top BXG50 shoes use a 200-joule fibre glass toe cap to reduce weight and support wearer mobility, making them an ideal choice for those in need of effective foot protection while on the move.

The trainers also have a breathable microfiber upper and mesh lining, helping to keep the wearers feet cool and comfortable throughout the day. Additional features include antistatic, oil and slip resistant soles which together with a reinforced midsole, serve to provide further protection. Designed for active workers, they are suited for warehousing, construction, driving and various other lightweight duties. Moreover, their composite penetration resistant midsole and fibre glass toe caps, means they can be worn in industries with metal-free requirements, such as electronics manufacturing and airport airside operations. This addition supports Supertouch’s aim of expanding its footwear offering, in line with the company’s mission of addressing the diverse needs of workforces across both the UK and Ireland.

Khurram Akhtar, director of products at Supertouch, says: “While safety footwear must provide sufficient protection to the end user, each item should also cater to the wearer’s particular working circumstances. Trainers for those who are often on the move must therefore also be designed to improve productivity and mobility. With low and high- top options alongside a range of features, these newest introductions serve to do just that, while being a valuable addition to our growing PPE offering.”

The BCG50 and high top BXG50 models are available in sizes from UK Size 3 to 11, with both available in a black colourway, while the BCG50 is also available in black and orange.

The PG251 glove combines EN ISO Level D cut resistance with advanced hand protection technologies to improve safety, user comfort and operational performance in challenging conditions. The Paw glove is the latest addition to Supertouch’s premium protection range of workwear, which aims to address

the diverse needs of the workforce across both the UK and Ireland.

Using dual layered coating for enhanced water repellence, Paw DRY™ technology safeguards the wearer’s hand in wet working conditions. Furthermore, the PG251 offers enhanced grip through its unique Paw GRIP™ latex micro foam coating, while also providing Level 1 protection against intermittent heat contact of up to 100°C. As a result, the PG251 is ideally suited for a broad range of applications. These include wet and dry handling, the handling of cutting tools and sharp objects, as well as general MRO activity throughout the agriculture, construction, logistics, metal fabrication and mineral extraction industries.

Akhtar adds: “Working outside can bring with it a host of protective challenges. Not only are employees exposed to several potentially hazardous handling applications, but the cut risk is heightened if the weather turns as mechanical grip reduces and workers use more force to keep hold of things. That’s why it is essential to not only have a cut-resistant glove, but also one which can enhance grip in wet weather.

“While no single glove will be suited to all working conditions, and certain tasks will always require very specific hand protection,

the PG251 comes pretty close to offering the ideal combination of dexterity, user comfort and grip; while providing effective water repellence, Level D cut resistance and Level 1 heat protection.”

The PG251 series is available in a range of sizes from small to 2XLarge. BMJ
