e wanted to find out a little more about those contributing toward this formidable collaboration.

EP Brands had been supplying the Three Wine Men (Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin and Olly Smith) with customised glassware from industry leading crystalline glass manufacturer Stölzle Lausitz for a number of years. Following discussions with Olly over a concept to develop his own range of glasses, we began work on a collaboration project that would see each glass carefully curated to enhance the overall experience of enjoying your favourite tipple, all at sensible and accessible prices.

What do we know about the genial wine expert Olly Smith? Olly’s career has seen him rise to become the most prominent celebrity wine expert in the UK. A regular on BBC ‘Saturday Kitchen’, and well-regarded wine columnist for The Mail on Sunday, he also has his own wine bar and eatery The Glass House on P&O cruise ships and has published five books on wine and cocktail drinking. He has also written features for numerous national and retailer magazines and can be seen presenting a drinks feature on Ainsley Harriott’s We Love Food over Christmas. “Balanced and bold, these statement glasses are robust and elegant giving ultimate quality and class - the perfect delivery for your drinks”, enthuses Olly Smith.

Why was Stölzle Lausitz chosen to partner with Olly on this project? Olly’s aim was clear from the outset - he wanted to create unpretentious, timeless quality glasses at affordable prices. The positive

What is particularly unique about the quality of Stölzle Lausitz glassware and its renowned ‘pulled stem technology’?

Stölzle Lausitz is one of the world’s leading crystalline glass manufacturers. Producing more than forty million glasses per year, with sales to more than one hundred and twenty countries around the world, three hundred and seventy employees, four production lines, three different hi-tech production processes and is the global leader in pulled stem ability meaning that Stölzle Lausitz wine glasses are barely distinguishable from far more expensive hand- blown glasses when it comes to quality. Thus, Stölzle Lausitz can meet the requirements of the most discerning customer. Stölzle Lausitz harmoniously combines form and function with smooth transitions. This is achieved with their pulled stem technology - when the molten glass is blown into the mould during formation, the stem is then pulled from the bowl to create one solid piece between the bowl and stem. Pulled stems have no seamlines, higher elegance, feel smoother in the hand and have a stronger resistance to breakage. Smith says that the glasses are both “harmonious and generous, and turn everyday drinks into special occasions by maximising aromas and flavours for extra special enjoyment”.

What can you tell us about the new ranges? Initially there will be two ranges available: ‘Charm’ and ‘Exuberance’. The Charm range, with its low centre of gravity stem, contributes to its high stability giving rise to its full-bodied bowl. This glass range is ideal for everyday use and for a relaxed get-together with friends. Due to their clear glass shapes and their fine crystal

glass, they reflect the simple freshness of the wine particularly well. In addition to a red wine, white wine and sparkling wine glass, the Charm series will also include a beer glass and a bowl- shaped glass for a refreshing Gin & Tonic. The affable drinks expert, Smith, shares “these glasses are designed to make you feel like you’re dining out - at home. Treat yourself and your guests to top-notch tipples with these carefully curated glasses fashioned for liquid splendour!”

The second range, Exuberance, has all the quality and design of the Charm range but is finer in appearance with a longer stem. The chalice is designed to give the wine more room to breathe towards the bottom. Towards the glass edge, the opening of the glass narrows: The fine wine flows evenly over the tongue, develops its full aroma and bestows complete enjoyment. It is ideal for those looking for something a little more refined for a special occasion. This range will also include five different shapes for red wine, white wine, sparkling wine, beer as well as a gin balloon.

What does Olly say of the collaboration? “I’m teaming up with Stölzle Lausitz, with the help of EP Brands, to create unpretentious, timeless quality glasses at affordable prices. The glasses have got to be accessible as well as serviceable to the maximum number of people and I’ve seen, for instance, the positive impact that Stölzle’s glasses create at the Three Wine Men events – the glassware is always a terrific success and has always worked fantastically at all of our shows to display the breadth and wonder of the world of wine.”
